President Obama released his FY 2010 Proposed Budget today and called for at least $164 million in funding for contraceptive-only education.  This includes competitive grants, research, evaluation and authorization for $50 million in new mandatory condom grants to states, tribes and territories.

The budget eliminates funding for CBAE (Community Based Abstinence Education) and Title V Abstinence Education Program.  This means that the CBAE money will continue funding through September 30, 2010.

President Obama’s new budget is a Hollywood-failed old approach that only increases teen pregnancy and damages America’s greatest resource, our children.

Leslee Unruh, President and Founder of the Abstinence Clearinghouse, said “I believe there will be a political backlash for those who oppose these life saving abstinence programs.  The enemies of sexual integrity programs will feel the heat from the army of youth who have seen the light through these programs as they approach voting age.”

This fight is far from over.  We have a mountain to move.  Abstinence educators from all over the world are joining together in strategic meetings that will take place June 16-19, 2009.  We have clear goals and sound strategies.  See more information at www.abstinence.net <http://www.abstinence.net> .

The Abstinence Clearinghouse agrees with Margaret Thatcher: Defeat?  We don’t know the meaning of the word.

Thank you to all the abstinence educators who continue to boldly stand for truth.

Too bad this is’nt coming sooner. I wonder if the this is what the teabaggers meant by cutting wasteful spending? The Revolution has started, and we are starting with you.

  1. Splendid! If that’s what the tea parties get us, then let’s have some more!

BTW, Cory, now that they will be teaching comprehensive sex ed again in our schools, do you think there will be a course on how to properly teabag?

Now she’ll have to actually work for a living. I love it when the right wingnut socialists are forced to join the capitalist economy.

I love the phrase “contraceptive-only education” as if they will be teaching kids that under no circumstances are they to even consider abstaining from sex….they MUST have sex, but they must use contraceptives.

Who are these people kidding? Then again these are the same idiots who run around proclaiming the pro-choice crowd as “pro-abortion” or “pro-murder” or “baby killers” so it really shouldn’t surprise me.

All I can say is – about friggin’ time. Abstinence only education programs have a 100% failure rate, so it is clearly time we face reality and address the issue with solutions that just might work. You would think if Unruh was so against the concept of abortion that she might actually want to try to prevent unwanted pregnancies in the first place, but I suppose that happening might cut into her fat paycheck so we wouldn’t want that now would we.

At least she has a promising future in the growing field of right-wing hyperbole.

The scariest thing about “Abstinence Only” education funding is the ONLY way to receive the funding, educators could only talk about condoms in stressing their failure rate.

…And the fact the people who are so high and mighty about it are the ones who couldn’t control their teenage urges and created unwanted or unplanned families. Do as I say not as I do.

As parents we all want our kids not to make the same mistakes that we have, yet most people do not learn by just teaching, but experience. I HOPED my kids would wait, but I KNEW they might not, therefore wrapping the willy has always been part of the conversation, to PROTECT them from not only crappy little babies, but nasty dick rot.

Did you actually use the words “nasty dick rot”?

‘Cause that’s the way I’m going to phrase it from now on.

I’m sure a lot of lives would be saved if Leslee would just retire. It’s too bad the feds just can’t pay her off to shut up. I would vote for that.

yah, nasty dick rot. Teenage boys don’t care about “warts or herpes”. You need to scare them and tell them about yellow dripping pus and “I heard it feels like salty nails being pounded into your bloody pus ridden penis.” If they still aren’t scared, you pull out grampas old medical book, with the vivid color photos.
