Damn right we should!

As the Gargoyle Leader reported on Sunday the President of SDSU will be sitting on there board, the school also receives money from Monsanto. This is disheartening for several reasons. Not only do I not want my tax money being intertwined with a corporate monster who eats up farmers and competition for breakfast I also think their relationship is an attempt to control research.

This was a recent column from The Hightower Report newsletter that concerns me.

12 Thoughts on “Should we be worried about SDSU's association with Monsanto?

There’s a great documentary about this called “The Future of Food”. Another one to look at is called “King Corn”.
These are a big reason I avoid corn-based food and other processed foods whenever I can. I just don’t trust these companies to sell a safe product. Case in point – the taco shell recall from a few years ago. http://www.socialfunds.com/news/article.cgi/384.html

    That’s why I only eat shell-less tacos . . .

You should ask Angry Guy to post about his Unwhich he ordered from Jimmy Johns once. Pretty funny.

  5. Tax dollars? Let’s get their attention where it really counts: ask alumni if they want their money going to support the corporate agenda.

I’ll give the 25 cent version.
I ordered the Gargantuan Unwich (i.e. sans bread) and they made it on bread. When I called back to complain, they said they could make another sandwich and deliver it, but they would need the other one back. WTF for? Were they going to resell it? So I said they could make another sandwich, but that instead of delivering it, they could just go ahead and insert it into their rectum.*

The best part about telling JJ’s to shove a sandwich up their ass was that I wasn’t ordering delivery to MY house, it had been delivered under Oliver’s address and phone number. It took a few months for the Surden household to build up the courage to order JJ’s again.. BWAAHAHAHAHA!!

“ask alumni if they want their money going to support the corporate agenda” – Somehow I have a feeling some of the Alumni don’t have a problem with it.

AG- I liked it when you told the guy that you have a wheat allergy and you could die, and I think you asked him if he wanted you to die. And your better half comments while you are on the phone, ‘That’s my Man.’

    It was very touching.

I had totally forgotten about the wheat allergy thing. Man, I’m fuckin funny!

I even asked you after you hung up the phone- “Do you have a wheat allergy?” And you are like, “Fuck No – I was fucking with him”

Any alumni involved in research at any level will probably object to this unless they are currently employed by monsanto.

Surprised there was nothing in the article about how the Alumni feels about it. I have a feeling they may be rearing their head. I consider it a huge conflict of interest no matter what ag corporation he is sitting on the board for.
