Is this Jodi Schwan or the Ghost of Jodi Schwan? (Image, KDLT)

I just about fell out of my office chair when I saw a local TV news station was covering this story, but of course, as usual, it was a non-story;

While Dave Munson’s time as Sioux Falls mayor is ending, the future of his staff is uncertain.  Chief of Staff, Jodi Schwan, and others are appointed by the mayor, and aren’t contracted for any length of time.

Thank GAWD!

But just as Mayor Munson’s time in office is ending, so too could Schwan’s.

Can you hear the champagne bottles popping?

17 Thoughts on “I would suggest Jodi gets her resume updated

I met Jodi once at the library while she was still with KELO. Nice person. And a smart, good reporter. She tripled her salary overnite. Can’t fault her for that. But the fallout is one thing that I believe will send her down the road, with Sioux Falls in her rearview mirror, never looking back.

i would guess she ends up as press sexatary for the next republican gov, or maybe on thune’s staff.

  3. She’ll end up with Sanford, the eventual home of all former KELO news bunnies.

Who? I can’t remember anything she did.

Less than 5 minutes of fame with $100K/year (3 years). Cut mine off and get me a double shot of estrogen.

She’ll run for VP (missionary style) with Thune. They’ll not get elected but she will eventually get a spot on reality TV.

  5. Sanford is not only for KELO employees but washed up Rep political hacks.

My beef is not with Jodi but Munson. He was pressured into hiring a Chief of Staff by “city fathers”. And she was the best he could do!

He offered the job to a Pierre insider first and she wanted $130 K I heard. Jodi was his second choice.

  7. It didn’t matter who Munson hired, he was screwed if he did or screwed if he didn’t.

And no, you aren’t seeing any hike in Champagne sales, as a solid 3/4 of the population thinks Dave did a good job as Mayor, about the same percentage that voted him in last time. Any Pol on the planet would take those numbers and make a case that they did the best the could and most objective (key word) people recognize that.

PG wants everyone to believe Munson is this evil genius because his entire house of cards depends on that perception. Of course, at the same time Munson is supposed to also be a mumbling idiot who has not the first clue on how to run a lemonade stand, let alone Sioux Falls.

Good luck trying to convince people of either, let alone both. The rhetoric just doesn’t wash and that’s why if Munson was able to run again he’d win again.

  8. Sy I agree most people don’t care about the fraud Munson committed during his time in office. Heck people didn’t even get upset as his reason for the fraud was that he was trying to fix it before anyone found out.

This is the exact reason Staggers will not even make the run off for Mayor. People prefer to live in Vernon’s fairy tale land!

  9. John:

“I agree most people don’t care about the fraud Munson committed’

That’s because it always amounted to rumors and innuendo, typically launched by political adversaries. People around here are very fair and will always grant the benefit of the doubt.

All that changes if actual evidence from criminal or civil proceedings is presented and proven. Than that 70% goes to single digits overnight.

You also have to remember that in a lot of ways we are still a small town and many people have known “Northender” guys like Dave & Kermit their whole lives. If someone wanted to convince me that Kermit was some kind of “evil genius” I’d laugh in their face just as hard.

If Mumbling Munson doesn’t leave the area he’ll be unprotected and a frequent target for creme pies or red, white, and blue paintballs.

I agree, Staggers may not make it.

Castillo or Peterson will be paralyzed and recalled once a handful of court cases get verdicts and a constitutional class action is initiated into state supreme court. I don’t understand why they are running. They’ve gotten away with manslaughter and the charge could become capital murder. Hopefully, the feds will come in and get either into court with financial records revealing their taxpayer con. Just like Capone, they’ll get time for tax fraud. Stealing from taxpayers in your own hometown is a worse crime against humanity than selling your minor children into prostitution.

That 3/4 of voters comes to what, 8,000 citizens?
I don’t think he was an absolute disaster as mayor, but the man is not a leader, and comes off as kind of a doofus.

  13. l3wis on March 25, 2010 at 2:26 pm said:

Yeah, he was elected in the last term by aproximately that many voters.

As for the campaign finance and Phillips to the Falls. The only reason he never got in trouble is because the guttless council never filed charges against him.

  14. Back to the original reason for the post – was KDLT lamenting the fact that Jody will have to find a new gig? I realize it was a puff piece, but why try to make us feel sympathetic about a situation that happens with every change of administration?

@Scott It’s because our ‘Media’ in Sioux Falls doesn’t know the definition of ‘real journalism’.

  16. I don’t think they were trying to get us to feel sorry for her. I think most people think ‘good riddance’ I guarantee to that if Rowenhorst and Admundson don’t resign on their own (which I think they will) they will get a big fat boot also.

  17. Plaintiff Guy on March 26, 2010 at 8:37 am said:

I think ‘Usual Bid process’ versus ‘Competitive Bidding’ is enough to remove Rowenhorst. Usual bids go to insider companies at 2 or 3 times competitive bids. It’s how Munson’s network has raided the city.

Admundson is in a coma in a vegetable state in the basement of city hall. Otherwise, as an ex-judge, he would have recognized civil procedures violations characteristic for Munson’s dictatorship.
