AG Marty Jackboots once again proves he has a neo-conservative agenda when it comes to law and the constitution;

The U.S. Supreme Court has determined that speech can be restricted but not barred, Attorney General Marty Jackley said, and he thinks the law passes that test.

“You can’t regulate it out of existence, but you can regulate time and place,” Jackley said.

Well isn’t that regulating it out of existence? This isn’t about dildos and naughty underware, this is about our First Amendment rights. Neo-Cons, like Jackboots, don’t like speech rights because someone might do or say something that offends his beliefs. It isn’t your job as AG to worry about your personal political beliefs, your job is to defend the US Constitution, and sometimes that means defending some really sticky issues. Marty needs to spend some time with Chris Nelson, who put his personal beliefs aside when going after Roger Hunt. Because it wasn’t about abortion, it was about money laundering and breaking campaign finance laws.

Marty scares me more everyday, and like I have said before, if IM13 passes รขโ‚ฌโ€œ watch his office. I have a feeling he will do everything in his power to stop the implementation of the measure.

11 Thoughts on “SD AG Jackboots has a very skewed view of the First Amendment

  1. In Rapid they don’t want them in the city limits, and in SF it was too close to a park. What’s the big deal? I would also add that it isn’t neocons who are known for blocking SPEECH they don’t like. I seem to recall that blocking speech via bomb threats or other methods is frequently used by leftists as well.
    Many see things as us vs them, it is not so cut and dried nor so one sided. Both parties suck and represent only themselves. Dems are not helping poor folks just as republicans are not helping rich folks….unless it helps either party get more power. Your blog is fun to read, just leave the rhetoric out, please.

  2. What would Lewis have without the rhetoric? Oh yeah, you only like rhetoric you agree with. ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Lol, who doesn’t?!

    Perhaps the compromise solution to this problem is just a rolling adult themed business, similar to a bookmobile or an ice cream truck.

  5. The “Love Shackalicious and Sandwich transport”

  6. Nice idea, but have you ever tried to run with an erection? The business would fail miserably!

  7. Jim, it’s all about the correct positioning.

  8. Jackboots is all for being a right wingnut . . . except when he was busy defending drunk drivers.

  9. Isn’t that about right?

  10. If he was interested in doing good work to help people Jackley would join the 40 state attorney generals who are turning their guns on the banksters. The group is lead by the Iowa AG. But instead of using his public office for good, Jackley wastes our time and money on frivolous suits over guns (thrown out) and health care reform. He deserves to lose in November . . . but SD is probably not that smart.

  11. Remember the Neo-cons motto for our state, “Business and bankers first, citizens second.”
