Let’s turn a good idea into a better idea

While JOE BATCHELLER has some great ideas in this letter;

Quit treating all types of parking equally. Charge lower rates for structured parking and higher rates for on-street parking.

I suggest something even better. ONLY charge for on-street parking and make the ramps FREE.

    Maybe I’m missing something. Is this sarcastic? Why would we charge less (or nothing) for something as hugely expensive as structured parking?

    Ah, never mind. I read the article in the AL and I see the argument now. However, I don’t agree that structured parking should be free (at least not during the day).

    I bet that if Mr. Batcheller had used the word “urbanism” in his LTE, the commenters would have erupted in a rage about liberals-trying-to-force-UN-values-down-our-throats. But that’s really what his whole letter is about. It’s about time we started talking about Sioux Falls potential as an urban city, not just a big suburb with an okay downtown.
