I just attended their press conference, which consisted of about 5 minutes of gay bashing and about 10 minutes of Obamacare rants (I thought it was going to be about the Doogard endorsing candidates?) Oh, they eventually got to that.
Dunsmoor from KELO-TV stated, “Bob Mercer told me that Governor Rounds endorsed Doogard for senate.” (implying that it has gone on in the past).
I asked, “Don’t you think all of this infighting between Republicans was inevitable since there are so few Democrats in Pierre – since it is mostly Republicans you now have to fight each other.”
Hubbel’s response was, “Well, there is a lot of Democrats in the legislature that are registered Republican.”
Uh, okay, De Knudson.
Then I mentioned that Republicans have been the majority party in Pierre for over 30 years, why not change the rules when it comes to ethical behavior and open government? Democrats have tried unsuccessfully for years and have been shot down.
Hubbel did point out she supported Initiative 10 (I did also) and an audience member did mention that two Republican sponsored bills last year were about open government were shot down in committee.
Do I think this press conference will change anything in Pierre. Nope.
Back to bugging the mayor . . .

Watching even a little bit of this leads me to ponder, “Who the hell votes for these morons anyway??” A sad commentary on our state’s voters and political climate.
I thought doogard ran as lt gov from the beginning of rounds term. How could rounds endorse him for the legislature?
@hmr – the really scary part about this whole state is that there are a LOT of people that vote for those kinda morons. They are simply the cream of that crop.

I hope he enjoys watching a 39 year old man picking his nose and making vodka martinis.
BTW, as for the tracking thing, who cares? As someone pointed out to me today, the Republicans are the ones that passed legislation to move forward on the national ID.
One other thing, from my bar perch I saw you the other day, right across the street, it looked like you were on a mission . . . to eat a sandwich.
l3wis, Not only did the Republicants setup the RealID system apparently they also work with a foreign company to track us? Next thing they will claim is the Democrats in the legislature that are registered Republican are conspiring to form a one world government to track us from France.
Oh well, we can always turn on our light bulbs to find our way out of this mess.
Some observations:
1. Only seems appropriate that “Yahoo” is Hubbel’s email of choice, since she clearly is one.
2. I like how she capitalizes “Hacker” in her mailer, as if someone like this guy is behind it all: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M4222O_irgk.
3. Could somebody please inform Hubbel that it was her hero, George W Bush, and not the EPA that launched the war on incandescent light bulbs back in 2007.
4. Hubbel has three “much-loved grown children.” Good for her! I wonder if Manny Steele can say the same?
Dunsmoor showed me their press release yesterday, it said, ‘Govonor’ on it. As we were laughing, I said, “Hey man, you have had typos to!”
Yes, Manny’s son is openly gay and has been interviewed by blog about it and his relationship with his father. That is why it often baffles me when he gay bashes. Does he not love his own son?
Gays are ok as long as they aren’t militant.

I like that. “New Ideas for Our Future” next to a picture of a CFL bulb with circle and cross through it. This woman’s political platform is based on reactionary fear of new light bulbs? And that’s her “new idea”? My god. Why aren’t I running for office? I could just show up at a press conference in my bathrobe and just mutter something incoherently that sounds like “Go Yotes!” and get votes that way.
