The Q & A session with Ann Telnaes tonight was fantastic! She reaffirmed my strong belief in 1st Amendment rights and FREE speech. She pretty much admitted she never censors herself. She said something like, “What’s the point of being an editorial cartoonist if you are not sharing your honest opinion about your topic?” Maybe others in attendance can clarify that, but I just got the feeling she was going to do what she wanted, and when she wanted (except following deadlines). A student asked if she ever considered showing ‘both sides of an issue.’ She paused for a moment, then said. “No! My cartoons are my opinion, I am going to show my side of the issue.” Then Guest Poster leans over and whispers to me, “That’s why political cartoons are on the editorial page.”
