Yeah, a guy who spends $50K of his own money to prove how unconstitutional our city government is, is Crazy. I guess the SD Supreme court is crazy to, since they agreed with him.

Some of the best public input I’ve heard….

It’s often times more informative than the regular agenda!!

L3wis, I think you need to put this portion of the Council meeting up on southdacola every week……

It’s like talking to a brick wall. They tolerate public comment because they have to. Our troops fight for freedom and democracy on the other side of the world when it’s not available in their home town.
I think the city will be surprised when there’s a federal stop action on Spellerburg. It will take me time to lobby Senators Sanders (VT) & Johnson (SD). By next summer, there will be one less overcrowded outdoor pool. The feds will show up once there’s a new foundation but the new indoor pool will never be completed. It’s the best way to keep the city off federal property.
I’m crazy but it takes crazy to fight for the constitutional rights you gave up when you voted for Home Rule Charter.

Hopefully, there will be a new VA Nursing Home east from Brandon and a relocated VA Medical Center at the same complex. Apparently, Brandon is the land of the free and the home of the brave.
The present VA grounds will (likely) become county &/or city property. However, I’m hoping there will be space for a monument with names of veterans who lost their lives because they couldn’t get to the medical center in time due to city streets construction.
You won. Veterans now know better than to fight for your freedom. Send your children into battle for Huether and city billionaires. Come to Brandon. It’s where veterans go when there’s a ‘Broken Arrow’.

Nutjobs lj? The main reason I come here is because l3 is far from being a sheep. He speaks truth to power. Some that comment here on the other hand? Watch this video. Then you’ll know who you are.

Dan, I hope you succeed with your plans for Spellerberg Park. It doesn’t make any sense to ruin a perfectly good park with an indoor pool, when the mayor is talking about how the city needs more parks.

  8. “City billionaires”, just curious, name them.

  9. You must be joking. The VA just announced they are in support of the pool and are now kicking in money.

Dan, you’ve done us a great favor with your fight with the city. Let me do one for you. You’re getting way too far from reality. There was a vote and the votes were counted. Democracy may not always give you the results you want, but thats life.

Don’t let the city keep kicking you in the nuts over battles you can’t possibly win. Watch your sermon at the podium again and ask yourself would a sane man ramble about municipal bond markets? Would a sane man threaten people that you will call your congressmen? Just what will congressmen do, THERE WAS A VOTE.

BTW the possible Veterans nursing home has nothing to do with the hospital.

  11. Now we know where Poly gets all his sensibility. WOW. I can’t believe anyone would watch that entire rant.

Thanks for the criticism. I’ve seen plans for flyovers at 41st & Louise. Also, major work at 41st & 26th street exits off I-29. That whole side of town will be paralyzed next year thru to 2018. Combined with construction at Spellerburg, the VA is surrounded. A hospital, especially a VA hospital, must be accessible. I’m crazier than a loon but you’re a fool if you can’t recognize Huether getting rich from public funds fraud and he leaving the city a billion dollars in debt. By 2018 we’ll have an empty EC and lots of indoor sports temples to show for it. This is a city, not a billionaire’s pro basketball team. We deserve more than stadiums.

LJL, Sy and the rest who seem to confabulate what the April pool vote meant. The people could not vote for an indoor pool because it was not on the ballot.

Since there was not indoor pool on the ballot, there was no vote for an indoor pool on the ballot.

The people DID NOT vote for an indoor pool. The April vote meant the people did not want to replace the OUTDOOR pool with an outdoor pool.

The city government of Sioux Falls is illegally using the ballot measures results to give them cover they do not have. Many of you have been sucked into the vortex. Happy times are ahead. Good luck Dan!

You must be joking. The VA just announced they are in support of the pool and are now kicking in money.

This is a huge misconception many have.

The VA (Sioux Falls Veterans Health Care System and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs) has NOT announced support of the indoor aquatics center OR donated to this project.

A private citizen and retired veteran, Tom Muenster, formed a PAC (political action committee), Veterans for the VA. This group was part of the Spellerberg opposition who worked to defeat an indoor aquatics center at Spellerberg Park.

During the City’s campaign for the indoor pool, they re-tooled the consultant’s recommendation for a 3,750 sq. ft. LEISURE pool. The LEISURE pool suddenly was being labeled a THERAPY pool instead. The Mayor and his Team did this in order to secure the votes of veterans in the April election.

After voters approved an indoor aquatics center, the PAC Veterans for the VA represented by Tom Muenster came forward to throw their support to the indoor aquatics center at Spellerberg Park.

They also made a $5,000 donation. Their change in direction and their donation is most likely an attempt to insure that veterans indeed do get that THERAPY pool.

Problem is, the $19.4m the City Council appropriated for the indoor aquatics center does not include funding for BOTH a 3,750 sq. ft. LEISURE pool AND a THERAPY pool.

Also, remember the Mayor and the Director of Parks and Recreation, Don Kearney, confirmed to the City Council that the major purpose of this Indoor Aquatics Center at Spellerberg Park will be for RECREATIONAL swimming, NOT for therapy OR for special interest groups!!

  17. Thank you for the clairification anonymous, I reread the press release and as you said it was the Vetrans for the VA.

As far as the indoor pool not being on the ballot, you folks are pissing in the wind. Phrase it however you want on a new ballot and the damn thing will be voted to be built there. GET OVER IT. We lost the vote. It’s a pool, not a chemical factory.

  18. Ballot Language on June 13, 2014 at 7:40 pm said:

It appears someone was downwind in the pissing contest because the person is all wet. An indoor pool was not on the ballot. There is a usurping of power to make the mayor’s scam work.
