7 Thoughts on “So is Cher the big concert announcement?

  1. No, next week they’re making their big opening show announcement.

Will the concert require boot scrapes to be installed outside the EC?

I’d suggest you wear a hard hat into the EC. It was built cheap and I (myself) question structural support.

Saw Cher in Vegas a few years ago. She’s still got it. Her costumes and quick changes are phenomenal. She packed the theater on a weeknight. Only seats I could get was nosebleed but I brought binoculars.

I was amazed when I read how much cheaper the tickets are for her than for Eric Church. I would rather pay the prices for Eric Church to see Cher, and I’m not a big fan of hers, but she would at least be interesting. That being said, when it comes right down to it, I think it is pitiful to call Eric Church a country act, Dwight Yokum, yes, but the so-called country acts aren’t REAL country anymore.

FIFTY years ago Cher broke in with Sonny singing Baby Don’t Go. Followed shortly after with I Got You Babe. She was hot….FIFTY years ago.

    Seriously, Cher…..

It will be interesting to see what the ticket sales end up looking like for this event….

In our SHINY, rippled, new 183 million $ taxpayer funded Events Center…..

Assistant General Manager of SMG, Chris Semrau, says Cher and other acts that have already been booked need a strong showing.

“The key is going to be ticket sales, if we can provide strong sales from our first few shows, that’s going to help us continue to tell the story about this great strong market, looking for diverse entertainment,” Semrau said. (KELO.com Cher Could Set The Stage For Others)

Also, still waiting to see the list of conventions which have been booked through 2016.

Remember……. the EVENT CENTER’S MAJOR TENANT, the Convention Center.

  7. I had the displeasure of needing to some “work” in the EC last week . What a Giant pain in my balls. I needed to be in the building for literally 15 minutes of “work”, but I was forced to sit through a 3 hour safety class. You can’t believe how over the top with BS this project is. Everyone has to have different colored hard hats for the safety training you’ve been forced through.

If they were grinding, or welding, or on scaffolding, or using ladders or moving scaffolding, or moving materials you would need the appropriate stickers on your brain bucket to signify that you were trained to be in the same area as the work being done. All work being done had signs to identify what stickers you needed on your brain bucket. If you were caught without the stickers in the appropriate area’s, you would have your birthday taken away. Their were people whose job was to conduct “safety checks”.

If this is a the new way construction projects will be handled in this city, you might as well throw out the budget. I strongly believe in safety but this is so overkill. I’ve been on construction site for over 30 years of my life in all different states and I have all different types of nationally accredited safety training, they didn’t care. MUST BE TRAINED BY US.

    Utter BS overspending.

And quite frankly, I wasn’t impressed with the place. A DUD for the money.
