snowgates

Have had some soldiers reports, and they are all good. They have even been using them on intersections. YEAH!

9 Thoughts on “Snowgates, good reviews.

At 4:43 a.m., the snowplows showed up on my street.

I used to dread this moment because it meant I would have to get dressed and go out and shovel because I do not own a snow blower nor can I afford to hire someone.

Today, I stood on my front step and watched as they dropped the snow gate at the end of my driveway.

In less than 5 minutes, I was able to shovel the small amount of snow the plow had left behind.

Thank you Councilor Kermit Staggers for the many years you championed this cause. Also, thank you to community activist Theresa Stehly for your organizational efforts that made it possible for this to come to a public vote.

Finally, thank you to Sioux Falls taxpayers who will provide this service which has just bettered the Quality Of my Life.

  2. Yes, it was great to get up this morning and see just a small line of snow at the end of my driveway.

  3. Just wait, MMM will be on TV tonight taking credit. And Galen Huber will be on crying how much longer it took.

The gates work the training for the operators down south and other places seems to be not good. The snow wind rows are on the street seems as though the plows stayed about two ft from the curb. Small amt of snow still makes a thick wind row making streets narrower. Intersections where ADA ramps are the snow is in the street is the homeowner responsible to do the city’s business and provide snow removal that was contracted for by the city. Is it poor training or another get even with taxpayer for even considering putting these on the ballot to vote on. The city goofs just seem to keep it up thinking we voters and taxpayers add just dumb.

What is funny is that they did not use their beloved snowgates anywhere in my neighborhood. We are all plowed in. Thanks Mike.

  6. They did not use them anywhere in our neighborhood either. Booooooo!

  7. Yeah, I have been hearing more and more they skipped some neighborhoods and driveways. Can’t wait to hear the explanation from the Public Works department as to why that was. I am sure they got some calls on it. I kind of wonder if the private contractors are picking and choosing when to use them?

  8. Reduced by less than half the amount of snow in my driveway. I will take that, although I think experience will help.

Gee, my driveway was easier to clean and my street isn’t even any narrower as a result. In fact, the snow that I would normally have had to remove and cram around the sides is now farther down the curb. Thanks Kermit and Teresa! My elderly neighbors aren’t snowed in anymore.
