huether-happy

I know, I had to swallow a little throw-up when I re-read that above title to. But what are his options?

There has been a lot of back room talk that the mayor may not be able to secure governorship in 2018. As I have have often noted, don’t underestimate the guy. I think the Republicans are going to have a brutal primary and with Mike’s money and influence, he could convince the dough heads in power of the SD Democratic Party he’s their man, but let’s consider for a moment that he may want the mayorship again. How can he accomplish this?

• He could convince a buddy to run in 2018 and only serve one term (conveniently) and reappear in 2022, OR

• Even easier, he could convince the Charter Revision Commission to offer an amendment to allow mayors in Sioux Falls to serve 3 terms.

The 2nd option would be easier.

What do I think? I hope that in 2018 when Huether exits city hall there is a U-Haul outside with his belongings in it headed to Texas, California or even Mars.

9 Thoughts on “Could Mayor Huether serve a 3rd term?

Just Charter Revision Commission? We have no members according to the City of Sioux Falls website. All of their terms expired.

    Charter Revision Commission Members

Dennis W. Aanenson- Term Expires – October 2014
De Knudson- Term Expires – October 2014
Robert Thimjon- Term Expires – October 2014
    Richard O. Gregerson – Term Expires – October 2014
Pauline Poletes – Term Expires – October 2014

So if the mayor decides to change the Charter to match his possible ambitions, who will change the Charter? Who will be nominated to do the mayor’s bidding? Will the voters be dumb enough to allow the mayor an immediate 3rd term?

This is an example of a good time to use a good ol’ fashioned KJV Bible quote:

“Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.” Matthew 6:34

I think I will pass on worrying about this one. 🙂

  3. Why do you think getting the voters to change the charter to allow a third term is the “easier” option? I can’t believe the voters would support that!

Personally, I don’t want to hear the mayor’s name anymore. There’s excess city debt, irregular voting, and sneaking around associated with him. When he’s gone, it’ll be important to restore city reputation and pride. We can recover but we don’t want to be remember the narcissist who created the problems.

Personally I hope mmm runs for another office as a dem. Right now SF is more despised than it has ever been by the entire state, north, east, south, and west. Would love nothing more than to see this ego-maniac crushed by his own party in the primaries.

  8. i don’t think mmm would run for any office he isn’t sure he would win. his ego is too big to take a loss.

He doesn’t need to run for anything, he’s to busy running from himself.
