The gentleman farm has been a tax dodge and government bank draw for some time. It’s drain is why the family farm was replaced with corporate farming. The next step is to cut off the farm welfare and absorb the remainder of private farms into a few corporations. It’s just business but it’s also how a nation of free enterprise becomes communist.

Nonfarmers have no idea how this works so just keep making fun. The little “real” farmers are the ones who got hit by the 2008 farm bill. But rightfully so. If you need to get 20% of your income from subsides as they did prior to that you are going to fail. NOW you only get disaster insurance subsidized, no different than those rich people who get protection by building home on the Florida coast, EXCEPT farmers provide food for us. Rich homeowners just get to rebuild their homes at our expense. BTW Noem personally got very little subsidizes, but obviously her immediately families did. And Dan, I agree. If you are not a $20 million farm that farms a minimum of 2,000 acres (in SD anyway) you can not stay above water. Those people should get NO subsidies for their disaster insurance.
