UPDATE: David Bixler (council operations) approached me before the special city council meeting tonight, and told me that the debt service is ‘NOT’ included in this table. I asked him to send me that data. Stay posted.

During Democratic Forum on Friday, Councilor Kenny Anderson Jr. handed out this nice little spreadsheet, look close, what’s missing?

CIP2015

The numbers are curious on a lot of levels. My question is where is debt service? Also, look how high user fees are.

Line two (2) of the top sheet is where the answer to your question lies. In particular, the word “service” (as in debt service).

I caught that Ruf, but I wish it could have gotten broken out of enterprise so we could see the actual bond payments.

Pretty scary that our debt service is only 3 points away from what we spend on streets.

Oh I don’t people’s mortgage payment is higher to anything else they spend money on every year.

My educated guess that users fee would include water and sewer services that are paid by users. This is only about $65 per resident total so not thinking that is so much.

This is what you’re looking for.

Scroll down til you get to the documents on page 3. It’s there.

What’s really amazing is comparing the 2008 CIP to this years. User fees, (water, sewer, electric) was 9.2 million in 2008. Projected 2015 is 28.2 million. About what I figured….as water and sewer rates have more than tripled since then. Not a bad gig for the director of these utilities either. His salary has increased by about 50% more than in 2008. Same for a few other managers. While they flourish, the city continues to advertise for many, many job openings, just like this one. Prolly even can be found in siouxfallshasjobs too.

If you go to the city website, use there search engine and type in “capital programs”. Then Scroll down in the 2015 version til you get to the documents on page 3 and 6. It’s there.

A whole lot of jobs there, just like this $9.50 an hour, 28 hour a week, no benefits job. Prolly even can be found in siouxfallshasjobs too.

BTW, I tried to send these links your way, (CIP and the city help wanted links) but when I send them, your site scraps my post completely.
