John is at it again;

What’s the best way to prevent more babies being born with horrible deformities from the Zika virus? Preventing the pregnancy in exposed women in the first place. That means allowing Planned Parenthood, which helps prevent approximately 579,000 unintended pregnancies every year, to keep doing that job. But it’s Planned Parenthood and it’s an election year, so Republicans are specifically banning Zika prevention funding from being spent at Planned Parenthood.

Planned Parenthood is not a “special interest.” It’s a first-tier health care provider for millions of men and women, and in particular low-income women.

It always amazes me that a father of two daughters is so anti-women. Maybe John is suited to run as VP with Trump?

6 Thoughts on “Ironic Johnny Thune Bag, The Vulture

    It’s not fair to associate Thune with Trump. Trump is a one of a kind bigot who made his fortune from 3 bankruptcys. His wife is an anorexic without a green card. I’m not democrat but there’s only 2 choices and Hillary should happen. She’d be the first femocrat, forgave Bill, and has him for advisor. Bill would be a good first man. He’d decorate camo. The China would be TV trays. There’d be no email thing if her home server is in the White House. The first executive order would be ‘Put the seat down’.

    Gosh, I sound like Trump.

  3. Thune is nothing but photo ops and lip service.

    Got a good laugh from Thune Bag & Marion Rounds today when they wanted to take away Hillary’s security clearance. These are two of the most corrupt obstructionists of all time. Surprised they didn’t give Hillary a 5 foot branch, a shot gun and ‘private’ hunting trip.

    I believe Senator Thune is a decent man, but I also believe he is a victim of his own imagine. As the story goes and correct me if I am wrong, I believe he was first discovered by then US Representative Jim Abdnor like a future Hollywood starlet would be discovered at a malt shop on Sunset Boulevard back in the day. It is my understanding that Abdnor attended a Kennebec versus Murdo high school basketball game, which Thune was playing in. During this game, Thune missed only one of many free-throws and by chance the next day Abdnor ran into Thune again, and kidded him about missing that one free throw… and well the rest is history as far as the Abdnor/Thune relationship and the eventual Thune political career is well known to all.

    Much could be written about the Abdnor/Thune relationship and the Abdnor camp versus Daschle camp struggles over the years which resulted in the defeat of Abdnor at Tom Daschle’s hands in ’86, and later the success of Thune at the defeat of Daschle protege Rick Weiland in ’96, and eventually Daschle’s own loss to Thune in ’04, and not to mention the 2002 struggle between Tim Johnson and Thune which was another example of the proxy struggles between camp Abdnor and camp Dashcle over the years thanks mainly to the “Malt Shop” discovery from many years past. But this give and take amongst politicos is an irony that plays out often in politics, but the end result, the appearance of a Thune inevitability in South Dakota politics is not always guaranteed, but in the case of Senator Thune is seems to be true. But it is an inevitably from image rather than substance I would allege. Like his initial discovery as a quality basketball player, or should we say a “Hollywood Starlet,” Thune was groomed for politics instead of being inspired into politics I would claim.

    I remember reading once that Senator Thune was actually born into a Democratic family. That his father was a friend of George McGovern, which explains further why Thune and McGovern always seemed to be very amicable towards each other. That McGovern back in the day made a point of always stopping at the Thune hardware store in Murdo whenever he was West River, that the Thune store was a political safe haven for McGovern whenever he entered into less friendly West River country.

    Now, I am not going to suggest that just because a parent is a member of one political party that the children or a child need to fall in line with that parent or parents. In fact, I believe I once read that Senator Thune was greatly influenced and inspired by the politics of Ronald Reagan, which in time and place would explain his political separation from his parents and indict my claim that he was glommed instead of being inspired to politics.

    However, when you realize that then President Ronald Reagan saved Social Security with the help of Democratic Speaker Tim O’Neil, that he raised the federal debt limit and many federal taxes multiple times during his presidency, and that in fact, it was a compromise between the Reagan White House and Democrats in Congress that once saved the Small Business Administration from the budget ax of Reagan and then OMB Director David Stockman’s initial budget proposals in the early 80s (an agency which survived and then gave Abdnor and Thune both a safe haven or a lifeline when Abdnor was appointed by Reagan to head the SBA after his loss to Daschle a few years after the compromise to save the SBA), that then, it is fair to say that Ronald Reagan was not an obstructionist, but John Thune is, however, and the only way to explain Senator Thune’s political actions and continuance is to see it in the context of the grooming of an image and not the inspiring of an eventual political leader, and a grooming which unfortunately seems to trump substance and compromise or should we say trumps effective leadership.

    If Senator Thune wants to prove that he is not an obstructionist then it is time that he adhered to the politics of Ronald Reagan and not the politics of our current Republican leadership in Washington. There is a obvious difference between the politics in this nation from thirty-five years ago and now, and it is time Senator Thune proved to us that he has not been groomed overtime rather that he was and still is inspired….But until he gives us that proof, he will continue to be just a groomed image and our own state’s version of “Basketball Jones”:

    Kind of weird to think that all this time he was just being groomed to be Vice Presedent to Turmp.
