As you know, I have been enjoying listening to Bad Neighbor Belfrage and Too Late Todd before the November elections and have continued. Greg’s bat shit crazy conservatism and commentary from his frequent 4 callers or so have me in stitches. You have to admit, Greg has got it down to a science; when you don’t know your topic - lie, bully or deceive.

Most of the time he gets away with it, but this morning, he got a good ribbing and dug himself a hole.

He posed a question yesterday on I think his twitter account asking what Mayor Mike Huether’s future plans should be? The response was 40% Retire, 16% become a tennis pro, and the remainder was split between Congress and Governor.

B-N-B thinks Hizzoner is going to run for Governor. I think that is what he wants you to think, I still think he is aiming for Congress.

Besides the first caller praising him, and thinking after running for Governor he should run for President (I think I threw up in my car) it went all down hill after that.

What Greg doesn’t realize is that his callers are neo-cons for the most part, and they don’t like a spend happy person like Mike.

Greg of course started to dig the hole before he had his first caller by saying we voted on an indoor pool. He got corrected several times using the old mantra that ‘by voting against an outdoor pool you were voting for an indoor pool’. As a caller pointed out, ‘But that isn’t what was on the ballot’. Many people called in berating the Mayor for spending too much during his tenure (true), bullying his projects thru without consensus (also true), and the one I liked the most was comparing him to Obama (ah, that is a stretch).

If I could have stopped laughing for a few minutes, I would have called in and made my opposition to Huether running for future office very simple, He is a liar. And B-N-B has no problem helping the mayor peddle those lies.

12 Thoughts on “B-N-B tries to bail out his BFF this morning. Epic Fail.

MMM would never move to Pierre. Of course, he will run for Congress.

I listened to this show once. There’s demand for a white trash talk show. We’re fortunate this audience is all talk that can’t find their way to the voting place. This unofficial poll of Huether’s intentions is about as valuable as mucous from my nose. Huether will try something. He’s the narcissist liar type that’s characteristic for a politician. He’s done in 14 months if not sooner. His terms as mayor are criminal intent a political opponent can capitalize on. Otherwise, he has no history before becoming the dictator of Sioux Falls.

I am imagining Huether as governor with his nephew in charge of accounting for Trumps’s Medicaid block grants.

Whatever mmm runs for, you can be rest assured belfrage will carry his water. I refuse to listen to belfrage live. Why listen live when you can get a one hour segment in a 32 minute podcast. This morning was just more of the same. He gives his dirty dozen regular callers all the time they need or want. One guy called in, started with his opinion and belfrage immediately cut him off because that opinion did not aline withat of the host. belfrage will start to yell, or just hang up on callers who do not play by his script. I do occasionally listen live, every 6 months or so, just to get a list of advertisers I will not use.

One other out and out lie mmm told belfrage yesterday about the ncaa basketball tourney. SF will never host a round of 64 or 32 for men. SF simply does not have the numbers to merit it. Case closed.

Governor? He knows his odds are long against Jackley or noem. Same for house against dusty johnson or shantel krebs. Either way, he would need a really really strong show of support from Minnehaha and Lincoln County. belfrige as his campaign manager and the argus’ ability to make him front page news every time he calls them could make him a contender in these two counties. But the rest of the state? No way. He might think he can pull off a trump style coup, but 18 months from now this state, as red as it is, will have had enough of trump style politics. He already said what he truly wants. Mayor. Serve a few years as a surrogates chief of staff, then run again.

Greg of course continued the discussion after this caller was off the air- and continued the lies. The drawings, etc presented during the run-up to the vote on the outdoor pool were not the ones used for the now built aquatics center. Also the cost went up at least several million over the advertised price.

Tabloid papers were/are different in size & headline appearance from traditional NEWSpapers. From their basic appearance & display location at retail outlets, the public can tell the difference between the two. If they buy a tabloid, most consumers know they’re buying escapist fiction entertainment. Conversely, one has to be more perceptive to distinguish O P I N I O N radio & TV programming from N E W S programming – both come through the same medium or portal to the public – there’s no difference in the packaging. What’s mortifying is how many citizens think “radio theater” like Limbaugh & Hannity (and a small time operator like B-N-B) . . . and TV commentary like O’Reilly – is ‘news’ or ‘truth’. These programs are sandwiched between actual newscasts and it all runs together as truthful information in the minds of many in the audience. KELO AM & FM is pathetic, slanted ranting conservative trash talk throughout the day. In the public interest, the FCC ought require stations & cable news networks to CLEARLY identify pure opinion programming for what it is…in order to clearly distinguish it from NEWS delivered by journalists. These judgmental-carnival-barker-bully-pulpit-pundits have nothing to authenticate their credibility. B-N-B’s working life has apparently never ventured outside of SF, and he doesn’t even have a college degree, for god’s sake. Limbaugh’s claim to fame is as a serial radio DJ since age 16, he flunked out of college, and has never served in public office. Sean Hannity is a college dropout who has no public service experience, either. But, Limbaugh & Hannity are laughing all the way to the bank making million$ as pied pipers to legions of conservative lemming listeners. Nice work if you can get it – not honorable, but profitable – at least at the level they’ve managed game democracy.

Matt Johnson, you are right, during the city presentations leading up to the vote on the Spellerberg pool, the number that was consistently used by both city administrators and the consultant was 19.4m.

The final capital cost of the indoor aquatics center was 24m.

Yet, you will repeatedly hear the Mayor say the aquatics center was brought in under budget.

This must be the way he’s been doing his math calculations for the past seven years! MMM is 12 months away from being DONE, DONE, DONE!!

Mike, SF taxpayers will not forget your record.

Blasphemo, we are lucky in one regard. Very few people listen to hate radio jocks like limbaugh, hannity, levin, and our own small time player, belfige anymore. In our own metro area listening area, according to Nielsen Radio Ratings, kelo shock jocks enjoy a less than 3% share (2.8 to be exact), of radio listeners likely to listen to radio for more than 15 minutes a day.
