Another Bar Napkin contract OR the real deal this time?

Rumor has it they have an actual committed tenant for Flopdation Park. Hopefully they have an actual signed purchase agreement this time, instead of a handshake and a wink;

The Sioux Falls Development Foundation will make what it’s calling a major announcement Friday involving Foundation Park.

Remember, as of right now, South Dakota and Sioux Falls taxpayers have committed over $30 million to this project so far in infrastructure costs. We have a stake in this process. Will the Development Foundation deliver this time? And if they secured a new business for the area, will it provide over 50-100, living wage jobs?

Hopefully, they will be “living wage jobs.” Else, maybe they can at least build on-site housing for the workers in true “Pullman Company” manner, so as to not further burden the affordable housing crisis in this town… Maybe there will also be “Pullman Stores” for the workers too, so that they can cash-in their corporate pay tokens as they wish…. (How exciting!)

And better yet, I challenge this prospective company to advertise its wages too, so as to prove it is not a part of the wage suppression (collusion) of this town….. 😉

Following the announcement that the consortium of banks was placing capital to this development, I had a feeling that there was on the horizon a fairly certain prospective tenant. Those guys are all die-hard crony capitalists looking for public:private partnerships [or a big pot of someone else’s money] to underwrite big spending. But they aren’t that reckless with their depositors’ money.

Throw more public money at it. There’s always need for crickets to play tennis indoors and Midco indoor baths.
