Unlike Huether, this guy actually knows how to put a cowboy hat on.

I know! I know! Sutton is running for governor. I have known for months. Ever since Suzie Pranger quit the SDDP to run his campaign months ago. It was such a badly kept secret I was surprised anyone showed up to the flat bed announcement today. Many in the party questioned Pranger quitting the party’s executive branch to run a governor campaign. What confidence can Sutton have with Pranger running his campaign when she did so badly running the party?

Of course everyone blames Tornberg. Is Pranger that thin-skinned that she couldn’t stand up to Tornberg? Or was it Tornberg’s idea to move Pranger?

Who knows, who cares. The only positive thing I can say about the whole thing is that if Sutton gets the nomination, he will get more votes than Wismer. Remember her?

Speaking of the nomination, there is another candidate waiting in the wings. Due to personal obligations they are waiting to make an announcement, if they do at all. Let’s just say they are a more ‘polished’ candidate than Sutton, but like Sutton has a great amount of compassion for South Dakotans. Personally I would like to see this person run for AG. Their chances are better and on top of that, no matter who becomes governor, they would make a fantastic and fair AG, mainly because they have compassion.

Not sure what the Dems ultimate plans are if they have two candidates running for governor. At this point, not sure if they have any plans at all. They certainly can’t go back to 2016’s playbook. That’s bloody obvious.

6 Thoughts on “Shocker! Billie Sutton running for Governor

  1. If elected, he would be our youngest governor ever at age 34. Kneip was 37 when he was elected back in ’70 and Janklow was 39 back in ’78.

But if a Democrat is going to win in South Dakota, then they have to carry Minnehaha County. And to carry Minnehaha County, I am afraid the cowboy hat is going to have to go…….

When driving SD to MN, what’s the difference for bugs splattered on your windshield? Those from SD are Republican.

There’s no hope for a Democrat governor. Nice try using the cowboy image for West River votes. At this point I only hope Huether runs and he’s dismally defeated.

The plan for if they have too is to talk the other guy out of running by offering him another race. They have chosen the person they want to run and anyone else will be discarded.

Nice teaser about the 2nd possible governor candidate…can you give us any more hints? east or west river?

  5. I don’t doubt anything that DT mentioned above, but if Mr. Sutton is such a great candidate, and he may well be, why not just let the system work with possible primary opposition?

This constant attempt by the South Dakota Democratic establishment to control the primary process with only their candidate merely proves that the Party is a just a club and not a political party. Just let people run and do not discourage them from running as well.

Historically, both nationally and in this state, the Democratic establishment’s track record for electoral success is lacking. Nationally, they have given us the likes of Dukasis, Gore, Kerry, (They tried to prevent Obama) and HRC. In South Dakota, they have given us nothing but continual defeat at the polls. And the Party’s persistence in running Wismer against Lowe in ’14 is very demonstrative of this. It is time to let the system work. And it is time that the Party stopped trying to control it! It is time to let the people make the final decision and not the Party establishment!

We need more democrats in South Dakota. We all see the terrible agendas of the republicans. They are a disgrace to our country and lives.
