Well the timing couldn’t be better. I’m sure we will be talking about the parking ramp deal today and other city bizzo.

LISTEN TO REPLAY HERE. I’m in the second half of show today (1/3/2018)

11 Thoughts on “UPDATE: I will be on Lalley Show, 4:15 today, KSOO 1000 AM

Talk about Mike, the Magic Man, and his cult of 5 councilors. Selberg should have voted with the 3 and forced Mike to break the tie. He lost face and didn’t have to.

  2. I listened to Patrick discuss last nite’s council meeting with Councilor Christine Erickson.

Reminder: Councilor Erickson was the only city councilor on the ‘secretive’ RFQ selection committee for the public-private parking ramp/hotel project. See email from Daren Ketcham to Councilor Stehly at 1:47:45 (last nite’s council meeting, Sire).

RFQ Committee consisted of these individuals:

Daren Ketcham Director of Community Development
Tom Huber Assistant Director of Finance
    Brent O’Neil Economic Development Manager
Matt Nelson Public Parking Facilities Manager
Kendra Siemonsma former Project Manager (reported directly to the Mayor)
    Joe Batcheller President of dtsf
    Christine Erickson City Councilor

The first time the public had the opportunity to see the make-up of this committee was at last nite’s council meeting.

As a member of this select committee, Erickson was a major player in the selection of Legacy. She also had access to the RFQ committee in a way that none of the rest of the council did. Remember, they are the only ones who saw all the proposals for this project.

Question: Was the ‘spin’ she gave Patick Lalley that she had to reach out to get more information before she could vote on the potential repeal

    OR

Was this all carefully choreographed by the Mayor, the RFQ Committee, etc……to try to save their reputations, potential re-elections etc……in a situation where public perception is really in the ‘tank’ on this one.

  3. i wonder how they can just turn this contract over to another entity that wasn’t in the bid process to begin with? shouldn’t new a rfq been made?

Every time Christine finds herself a little deeper in her own foxhole, she just grabs another shovel and keeps digging.

A listen to Christine Erickson on the show before Scott is time well spent for an insight into just how much of a typical, slimy “CYA” politician she really is. She has no place being in local government in a town the size of Sioux Falls, that a lot of us would like to think still reflects pretty decent Midwest/Great Plains ethics & values.

  6. The GOP often showcases Erickson, or did. It will be interesting to see if this king making continues.

You know what they say, a true Vinatieri is not a Finkle and a Finkle will never be a Vinatieri….

    #WWJJD? (January Jones)

wonder why it is so important to insist on throwing public money at legacy now, if they were so solvent on their the past projects & always paying big returns to their private investors.

  8. EC- I enjoyed Erickson’s ‘media tour’ yesterday where she blamed the administration for secrecy. First off, MMM has operated this way since day one, it’s no surprise, and secondly, Christine help choose Legacy for the developer, a developer with a crappy record. Not sure what color her kettle is, but it is probably the same color as MMMs.

  9. it’s called “don’t look at me, nothing to see here” damage control…even though she endorsed legacy thru the rfp
and voted for the contract. if she was that upset she could have followed neitzert and voted to at least have a second reading on the repeal. she’s a real piece of work once again trying to play both sides.

I’m waiting for Erickson to play the gender card. Weaker sex gets picked on? Does she cry like Huether? Ronald Reagon once said you have to be an actor to be a politician. January Jones would have been a better councilor.

  11. l3wis, I still marvel at her comment about the TIF near Levitt, where she more or less claimed that we should have no worries about TIFs robbing School Board coffers, because the State recognizes TIFs and makes up the loss to the School Boards, from TIFS, from the State general fund…..

Yah, like the State already has enough funds for education; and shouldn’t those “additional State funds” already be committed to education with or without a TIF or TIFs?… And as a former state legislator from SF, shouldn’t she be more cognizant and appreciative of that fact than most?

I first became suspicious of her blind ambition when she supported the school change date movement (after Labor Day), while at the same time, the local GOP had turn her into their “Regular MC”…. She was everywhere….. I was shocked she didn’t run for Mayor…. I think she would have won.
