I guess Paul has been telling some people that he would like to move public input to the back of the meeting. You know, so it will make it easier for all the corporate welfare recipients to do their business at the council meetings before they would have to listen to the peasants grievances.

First off, as I have said before, this is not up to Paul. It would take the vote of 5 city councilors to move public input, and trust me, they wouldn’t look real good doing it.

Besides a very ugly public fight to do this, if it were to pass, I can guarantee the embarrassment that some of us can spread over several months from making such a decision will NOT be worth the effort. As I have noted, leave it as is, and take care of problem commenters on an individual basis. You know who they are, address them already instead of just putting a bandaid on the problem.

Our city is owned by the public as a whole, not just the casino owners, banksters and developers. They can wait or better yet participate with the rest of us during public input at the beginning of the meeting.

Trust me Paul, you don’t want this fight this early in your administration. You are going to look very petty trying to infringe on the public’s free speech rights this early in your administration.

7 Thoughts on “Is TenHaken proposing moving Public Input to the back of the meeting?

  1. Paul said in an interview with KELO before the final election, that he wanted to replace input with individual meetings with the Mayor. Then on election night, he said that input wasn’t going anywhere, except apparently now to the back of the bus… So there is a lot of input here, but I am not sure which one is his final intention…. (?)

As I read it the new HB 1172 makes public input up to the discretion of the chair of the meeting. There has to be public input but the chair gets to say when it happens during the meeting. Your interpretations may vary.

I saw that, but it will be interesting to see what the council thinks of ONE person deciding what happens at their meeting. I would think that Paul would be very cautious making this decision without consulting the council, and he certainly wouldn’t have the power to do that until after July 1.

Let’s see how does the saying go? Lies and the lying liars who tell them? If the lips as moving there must be lies coming out? If they’re breathing, there must be lies? So many choices.

If they still can have their 5 minutes to show Zombie videos and complain about VA health care…what difference does it make if its at the start or the end of the meeting?? Personally, I like the idea so I dont have to waste 15 minutes of my life every week hearing about Roberts Rules from some has been from 20 years ago, or the same whiners every week who have nothing of value to say! I think it would be a great move! With no crowd…me thinketh the court jestors would have to find a new way to amuse themselves

  6. Just imagine, Lord Buckethead sitting there for an hour and a half before speaking. Because that could be rather odd and intimidating the first time……(“Who’s the guy with the bucket on his head?”…. “I am not sure”…. “I think he might be with the Dutch Mafia”….”But definitely not with the FHA”…..)

All this talk about moving public input is like the followers of PTH not wanting him to hear any potential criticism of his policies. If he and Erica decide to go whole hog for Lloyd projects they can always clear the room and go home.
