Just listen to this guy’s lyrics, nevermind all the fancy musicianship. He reminds me of my favorite songwriter of all time, Hank Sr. REAL. HARD. and SAD. Some people just get it, Jason is one of them.

5 Thoughts on “Music Club W/Jason Isbell

  1. Absolutely! I saw him at the Pavilion a few years ago, great show. He just put out a new thing “Live At The Ryman” that sums up what he’s all about these days. Hope he comes back to town again soon.

  2. You’re four years late to the party here…. But I agree, he’s one of the best around today. But hopefully he stays relatively unknown because his shows in small theaters are very intimate and hard to beat. I’m eager for him to return to Sioux Falls for a fourth time. he played the orpheum twice and then last time it was the Pavilion. he also headlined Sioux City’s Saturday in the Park this summer.

Jason Isbell is the finest song writer/musician today. Awesome in concert.

  4. As long as he doesn’t start rapping about his pickup truck he will steer clear of the Arena shows.

I also caught him a couple of years ago at the Orpheum (wish they would bring in more concerts like Jason!) with John Moreland opening. It was an incredible show and I was just blown away by his lyrics and passion for such a small venue
