In Politics: Nationally, Trump relented and signed the Legislation needed to keep the Government open. Then, as if unable to tolerate the calm, he created another Constitutional Crisis by declaring a National Emergency and announcing he would use money Congress had appropriated elsewhere to build his wall. Trump’s drama and his attacks on the institutions that have given us a stable government for almost 250 years, which, in turn, underlies the very foundation of our prosperity and leadership in the World, has to stop. Unfortunately, only Republicans, including our own Republican Senators Thune and Rounds and Representative Johnson can mitigate the damage Trump inflicts daily on our Country. As Adam Schiff, Chair of the House Intelligence Committee said yesterday……:

“To my Republican colleagues: When the president attacked the independence of the Justice Department by intervening in a case in which he is implicated, you did not speak out. When he attacked the press as the enemy of the people, you again were silent. When he targeted the judiciary, labeling judges and decisions he didn’t like as illegitimate, we heard not a word. And now he comes for Congress, the first branch of government, seeking to strip it of its greatest power, that of the purse.”
“Many of you have acknowledged your deep misgivings about the president in quiet conversations over the past two years. You have bemoaned his lack of decency, character and integrity. You have deplored his fundamental inability to tell the truth. But for reasons that are all too easy to comprehend, you have chosen to keep your misgivings and your rising alarm private.”
“That must end. The time for silent disagreement is over. You must speak out.”

Back in South Dakota, a friend noted an article from Jan. 29 in my hometown paper, the Huron Daily Plainsman, entitled “Nepotism bill defeated in committee.”

My friend wrote, “Seems like an outrage considering, as the paper noted, Kristi Noem hired her daughter a recent SDSU grad as a policy adviser in her office, Daugaard’s chief of staff was his son in law, Gov. Rounds hired his brothers, sisters in law and children. Republicans feeding their families at the teat of government. Welfare for them. Thought they were opposed to that.”

Republican hypocrisy, it is never ending.

Families are to be a social realm, but for South Dakota Republican leaders families seem to be more of a socialistic experience.

Is Schiffless referring to the firing if James Comey?-It was Rosenstein’s memo that all but said fire him because of the incompetent boob he was. Where was Sciffless when Barry was constantly criticizing any media he did not agree with. The overwhelming majority of stories about Trump are negative. Obama called out justices in a state of the union address and constantly berated law enforcement- where was Schifless then. And every time the immediate past president spoke about his health care plans he lied. And I was raising teenagers in the 90s when that great moral example was wasting cigars in the oval office. Where was Schiffless?

  3. Come on Matt. You need to stick to this logic on this blog…

Trump’s vanity has become a serious problem. Closing government could have caused a recession. Without an economy we don’t need a wall. He’s caused pain to the middle class by withholding government salary and contracts. He falsely and deviously amended so we were promised less income tax but owe more. It’s to late to impeach him so we must suffer another 2 years before he can be run out of office. I shall miss the humor and ignorance this twit tweets. One who calls Putin and Kim is Ill his friends doesn’t deserve a place in US history.

Let’s not forget that Rosenstein was the one who hired Mueller after AG Sessions recused himself. Let’s also not forget that Rosenstein refused to be a part of an advocacy to fire Comey based on the Russian investigation as well; and that the timing of Comey’s firing and Mueller becoming a special prosecutor were only days a part. So to suggest that Rosenstein is somehow an ally of Trump, or defender of his actions, is deeply wrong to claim or assume.

As far as your ranting and raving about Obama and the media, well, I am sure every president has criticized the media at times, but none to the level of Trump. Trump is in his own league on that one.

There’s a big difference between Obama and Trump when it comes to law enforcement, too. Obama had video proof to substantiate his criticisms, while Trump tells officers to not be to nice to those who are arrested like not watching their head as you put a suspect in the back of a squad
    car.

When Obama called out the Supreme Court during a State of the Union address, I agreed with what he said, but I didn’t agree that was the right forum to do it. But then again, the gloves where off, weren’t they, when Obama was once called a “lair” on the House floor in his presence? While Trump lies profusely and no one on the GOP side of the House ever calls him out for it….
