Drinking Liberally sums up Trump and the Mueller Report

The Mueller report is finally out and, despite Attorney General Barr’s assurances to the contrary, it confirms the worst about Donald Trump. At times it is difficult to describe the abhorrence I feel as Trump daily tramples on the customs and traditions which bind us together as a Country. But, having watched the cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris burn almost to the ground this week, I would compare Trump’s presidency to that event. In his series on Civilization, Kenneth Clark famously said, as the camera panned out to show the magnificence of Notre Dame, that he couldn’t describe what Civilization is but he knows it when he sees it. That symbol of Western Civilization now lies partially destroyed for all to see, saved from total destruction only by the firemen and women of Paris. It will hopefully be rebuilt by the people of France.

Much as fire consumed Notre Dame, Trump daily attacks our institutions, the rule of law, and our international network of alliances which together provide the foundation of our Country’s prosperity and strength. Trump perceives these same institutions as a threat to the culture of White Male privilege which has nurtured him and his followers. He believe they impede his desires. He wants to pull them down and pull us back to a darker time. Whether he will succeed is still an open question but the slow burn he started is threatening to become a conflagration. We are the firemen and women of our country. We are the only ones who can extinguish the fire Trump has begun and determine what kind of country we want to be. Do we want a Country hopeful, tolerant, prosperous and open to new possibilities, or a Country of Trump, selfish, intolerant, poor and afraid of what is different? The next election will tell the story. Can we count on you?

Based on the Mueller Report – and not Barr’s construded findings – it is time to begin impeachment hearings against Trump.

However, ever since Nixon, Democrats have shown an unwillingness to seek impeachment when it was justified. Because impeachment hearings should have been started over Iran-Contra with Reagan, and with Bush43 for his yellow cake lie and his unjustified war; but oh no, Democrats seem to be scared of the “I” word now days, while Republicans will impeach you over a stained GAP dress.

It’s utterly amazing, isn’t it? An unmaterial lie from a GAP dress will get you impeached, but attempting to collude with some Russians and a reliance upon subordination of your staff to prevent a full bonafide example of obstruction of justice are not impeachable offenses, so far; but then again, Republican arms sales to Iran and the violation of the Boland Amendment, and lying about why we are going to war aren’t either, apparently. So, I guess we will have to see if the Democrats have developed any balls overtime, or are their nervous Barney Fife standards still too high?

Oh, and is it just me, or do two term Republican presidents have a problem with criminality? No, think about it: Nixon, Reagan, Bush43, and…. Trump? (Trump?) Trump’s not a two termer yet, but if we don’t seek impeachment, then only Trump wins, and because of that, he may win a second term, if we don’t act soon…

They read a different report than the one submitted by Mueller.
A+ for the fantastic application of symbolism tho.
Are those at Drinkly Liberally certain that there was not the visage of a Phoenix rising from the ruins and ashes about which they figuratively write?
DJT got a boost from this failed coup.

Apparently it is not a lie if it is an “unmaterial lie”?

“DTJ got a boost from this failed coup.”

Not much though, but if the Dems are not proactive, he could gain more from this down the road…. But then again, there is always the Southern District and the NY AG to save the day.

Barr’s spin is nothing but the eye of the storm; and if the House Dems are not the hurricane, then those in NY will suffice.

This period in this investigation reminds me of the spring of ’74, when the convictions of some of Nixon’s closest men allowed some to suggest, that the Watergate Scandal was now over with, except there was one minor omission or understanding in that assessment, and it had to do with one last Marine One ride from the South Lawn.

TgFg,

Actually, I meant immaterial lie. But regardless, a lie that is not material is not a lie that meets the standard of perjury. And a lie alone is not an impeachable offense.

And, here is an interesting piece today on Mueller and his conclusions from the Post as well:

What? The liberals think the Mueller report is damning, the smoking gun and the conservatives think it proves the whole thing was a bullshit witch hunt? Unfuckingbelievable!
If you don’t believe that this whole Trump Russian collusion bullshit is just as stupid as the Obama birth certificate college transcript bullshit then you are either lying to yourself or a complete fucking moron. You choose.
Once again, stick to bitching about all things local. There’s a reason I stopped watching any national news outlets.

Hey…Stiles. Get off your ass. Read the Mueller report. The real Mueller report. Not the barr cliff notes.

Obama was borned in Hawaii and Trump colluded with the Russians. Else, why did Trump say he was “F…ed,” when a Special Counsel was appointed?
