I would like to introduce Senator Drescher

Kennedy drops out of NY Senate race

Looks like Fran may have a chance. Kennedy says she is dropping out for personal reasons, some suspect Teddy’s brain cancer, but I have also heard she wasn’t going to be asked because Governor Patterson got annoyed by Kennedy’s lawyers (what did I say about giving seats to elitists? Huh? Huh?) Kinda hard to get rejected when you are not in the running anymore. Way to save face Caroline!

Obama retakes oath

Obama’s counsel advises him to retake oath to quell the media about Roberts fumble (mainly FUX News and Wallace). So he retook the oath last night. But only allowed print media, which of course pissed off the TV news, again, mainly FUX News and Wallace.

Obama expected to close Gitmo today

Or at least get the process started. Which has wingnuts up in arms. Who cares where the terrorist prison is, Hell put it in Pierre, South Dakota, there’s a lot of BACKROOMS we could hold them in the Capital and Governor’s office.

Governor (Dictator) Rounds decides it’s ok to give info to anon legislators

Well thank you Mikey! It only took you a few days to realize we live in a Democracy. Hunhoff’s comment is the best;

“It’s the right position and one that should have been in place for the last 100 years,” he said of the agreement. “But it could change the next time we have a new bureaucrat.”

The Washington Pavilion is getting in the Pre-School business

When I first read this story, I thought it was a joke. Nope. The Pavilion has decided that they aren’t wasting the public’s time and money fast enough.

“This isn’t going to be a money maker for us, but my requirement was that it at least be a cost-neutral program,” Wood said Wednesday.

Ah, Gary, since when was the Pavilion concerned about ‘making money’? Is this something new we should know about? Even though they claim to breakeven on the program, other people say it is expensive;

Charging “on the higher end” of area rates can be justified by the services and resources the Pavilion provides, said Lacie Petersen.

Well, I couldn’t agree more, but you also have to consider the Pavilion’s track record . . .

Not a bad picture of Fran. Too bad she’d have to open her mouth every once in a while to run for senate.
As to the oath thing: Obama was officially president at noon eastern time on 1/20/09. The oath or lack thereof does nothing to change that. Wallace is an idiot.

I know, he signed the papers. Get over it.

#3 Interloper on 01.22.09 at 9:16 am

I agree that the oath thing is no big deal. But do I have to provide a link to every single media outlet that jumped on this thing…not just FOX? Whatsa matter, running out of excuses to bash FOX?

#4 l3wis on 01.22.09 at 9:37 am

I think FOX was the first to politicize it though.

#5 Interloper on 01.22.09 at 9:59 am

According to whom, Media Matters?

#6 Interloper on 01.22.09 at 10:05 am

I just read the transcript. Questioning it is politicizing it? That means that everytime somebody questions Saint Obama, it’s politicizing. Wow. I can see it now. Suppression of free speech like you’ve never seen it.

#7 l3wis on 01.22.09 at 10:13 am

I didn’t have a problem with Wallace questioning it, it is when he ‘assumed’ on his own that it may be unconstitutional. Wallace may be smart, but he ain’t no constitional law professor, Obama was.

FUX news is just mithed because Obama snubs them in press conferences, and who can blame him. This is the same network that helped the Bush Administration lie about Iraq, CIA operatives, and No Child Left Behind. And after the ribbing Obama took from O’Reilly, I doubt he wants much to do with them.

#8 Interloper on 01.22.09 at 10:55 am

I don’t blame Obama for whatever he does or doesn’t do regarding FOX. That’s politics.

O’Reilly, FYI, has been fairer with Obama than Olbermann had been with Bush.

#9 l3wis on 01.22.09 at 11:28 am

How do you figure? Obama has been president for 2 days, Bush was president for 8 years. I would hope Olbermann was taking Bush to task more often, he is one of the few MSM pundits who have.

I found this comment on the AL site in reference to the Rounds article and Tim Rave to be interesting but not surprising. What is Pierre? A big Hoot Colony?

“In the spirit of disclosure, everyone should know that House Speaker Tim Rave, who has appointed himself to defend the Rounds administration, is the cousin of Lt. Governor Dennis Daugaard. I wouldn’t expect Rave to utter even a single solitary word critical of the administration. He is the see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil monkeys – all rolled into one.”

#11 Interloper on 01.22.09 at 3:38 pm

In response to #9…Yeah but Obama has been running for president ever since he got elected to the Senate…and he’s constantly been in the media for almost three years. Olbermann & Co. never challenged him, they beatified him.

#12 l3wis on 01.22.09 at 4:06 pm

How can you challenge policies that have not been implemented yet? I don’t agree with Obama on a lot of issues, but I’m not gonna rail on him about it until he actually has a chance of implementing them. Lots of Bullshit is thrown around in campaigns, that’s a given. Trust me, you’ll see criticism from me, guaranteed, when the time comes.
