I guess Mike is willing to take on citizen’s constitutional rights to property and due process. This isn’t hubris, this is stupidity that will cost all of us taxpayers in frivolous lawsuits and demolition costs;

“Let’s get the word out across the city that we’re not messing around. We’re going to enforce them (codes). We’re not taking it anymore, Sioux Falls. We’re not,” the mayor said.

Pretty bold words when you have two SD Supreme Court cases pending and no constitutional right to enforce certain codes.

If I was Mike, I would lay low on this one until the cases have been heard by the SC. But we know his gigantic head won’t tolerate it, so he hires a new thug to take over where Shawn ‘Toad’ Tornow left off;

Key to the effort is the addition of a new attorney, Paul Bengford, to the city legal team. He begins Monday and will focus on prosecuting code violators who resist administrative attempts to make them desist.

What is Paul going to do? Until the code enforcement process is made constitutionally valid, yah gots nothin! It’s kinda like the events center, until the voters say yes or no, all the $500,000 plans in the world can’t make it happen.

  1. Every day Huetther is looking more like the stereotypical high school principal in bad 80’s teen movies who thinks he’s a tough guy but is laughed at by everybody.

  2. But…but…but…a vast majority of Sioux Falls residents rate his performance as good or excellent.

  3. A vast majority of 400 voters polled with land lines rate his performance good or excellent. And a great secondary question would be, “How often do you watch the city council meetings?”

  4. A vast majority of 400 voters polled with land lines rate his performance good or excellent.

    EXACTLY my point l3wis. IT is these very same 400 people polled about an “EVENTS” center. Let’s see…57% of 400 is 228. 15% of that 228 or 34 “LIKELY” voters want their McArena DT. How lucky the Argus was when they pushed their push poll to get reactions from 400 “LIKELY” voters. That poll and everything about it is a complete joke.

    Well, well, well. Looks like you guys at South Dacola may be placed on double secret probation. One more slip up, one more mistake, and this fraternity of yours has had it.

  6. I didn’t vote for him. I didn’t. Sioux Falls city government always struck me as spendthrift and prone to grandiose plans when they should concentrate on infrastructure and services. It does. In that, Heuther isn’t much different, although I don’t know how committed he is to the Events Center. At this point I just hope his term passes without doing too much of anything. I do.

  7. If you’re attacked by the city with citations, reference Circuit Court Case 08-2478. The city is unconstitutional because they don’t allow due process or appeals. Thus, a court can’t uphold their mandate or fine. Never pay, it’s an admission of guilt that can be enforced. They’ll send out tough guys and threaten you. They’re vicious but have no teeth. Smile like a patriot and walk away. Someday, they’ll repeal Home Rule and return to democracy. Meanwhile, citizens should question why they pay taxes to this public employees profit center.

  8. Who owns the Wisk and Chop? I’m only wondering because the mayor seems to be holding all of his sessions at that location. I would think out of fairness he should switch locations.

  9. I checked into this during the campaign, the owners are true RED Republicans. They saw an opportunity to make money, like most Repugs.

    But as I have known all along, Mike is a Republican in Democratic clothing.

  10. Just to correct a small point – the polls didn’t go to only people with landlines, because I received a call on my cell phone (I don’t have a landline).

    As far as I know the only restriction was they had to be registered voters.

  11. Registered voters from a list of city employee brown nosers. Just like the democratic panel to decide an events center location, 5 city employees and 5 ‘usual bid’ contractors.
