Anon tip about the status of Shawn Tornow
No new news here, or anything revealing. Just more speculation.
I received an ANON tip today about what I said in this post.
Mike did answer one question for me (partially). Shawn Tornow has yet to have his civil service hearing. He did not tell me why there has been a delay, but he did reassure me that Tornow has not been receiving compensation or benefits since his dismissal. I joked that Tornow was the king of dragging things out. Which he did not have a response or even a smirk.
There is still people wondering if Tornow received some kind of severence. I don’t know. I do know the mayor did tell me this above and the city attorney confirmed it with a friend of mine a few days later and advised her to check with the clerk of courts because Tornow is suing the city for wrongful termination (or something like that).
I really don’t care how it turns out, but I hope the media covers it. The amount of hypocrisy this man must carry around must be pure agony for his back. To torture the very people who pay your wages then turn around and sue the taxpayers because you don’t think you should have been fired (for torturing the citizens) is so ludicrous I don’t even know where to begin.
I think this is attempt by Tornow to bring down others who participated in the code enforcement witch hunt, and he is just bitter he was the only one to be let go from his cushy job. I do agree with him on one level, there are still many people in the ranks that participated in the code enforcement debacle that should be sitting on the sideline with Tornow (or better yet a rubber room drooling on themselves). But I would assume they have a lot more Huether shit on their noses then Tornow did. I guess he should have been kissing ass instead of eating salty snacks.

UPDATE (2): Landfill, Park, what’s the difference?
UPDATE #2 (FROM A CITY OFFICIAL):Â This is an approved rubble site for Friessen Construction. Â The remediation plan for the property is to convert it into open space, although no specific plans have ever been approved.
UPDATE:Â A city official called me about the landfill, they are looking into it. They told me that there is no immediate plans to make a park in that area, he confirmed that with Director of Parks and Rec, Don Kearney. They are also going to check with directors Cotter and Cooper to see what the plans are. This should be interesting. They drove by it and it appeared to them it was a concrete pit.

I was visiting a friend who lives on North Shawnee. As she was showing me her home, I was shocked when I looked out the back of her home. There is a large vacant area that looks like a landfill. She said that the residents in that area have been told that it will eventually be a park.
The address is 3301 East 3rd Street and that it currently belongs to Friessen Construction Inc.
Given the current climate at City Hall regarding “code enforcement” I couldn’t believe what I was seeing!!
I’m sure that the City must be aware of this “mess” because as developers put together neighborhoods they must “set aside” a certain number of acres for park land. I believe that the homes in this area are at least ten years old.
Directions: At the intersection of 6th St and Cleveland, go east (Twin Towers is the second turn on the north side of 6th St) Twin Towers is one block long and dead ends at the vacant property I am talking about. Turn left onto 5th Street, you will see the landfill area in the back of the homes that line the north side of 5th St. Turn right onto Shawnee and once again you can see the landfill behind the homes on the east side of Shawnee. Follow Shawnee north, it curves off to the east and becomes 3rd Street, from the north side of this vacant property (3301 East 3rd Street) you can see the landfill area by looking to the south.
The “better view” is by looking in the back of the homes on 5th Street and on Shawnee.
