I visited the newly restored cathedral today. Amazing. Unfortunately this was the only picture that turned out (I had a bad camera setting. Self guided tours are welcomed.

9 Thoughts on “A must visit: St. Joseph’s Cathedral

  1. The window is gorgeous.

I saw it briefly, the craftsmanship is incredible.

  3. It is pretty cool. I was schooling the volunteer on how they painted the columns to look like marble. Maybe I should volunteer to give tours. “Father, it has been 28 years since my last confession.”

  4. You could also tell them the hours and hours it took to cut the glass, put it together and solder it. Making a window that big takes a very long time.

  5. I think those are the original windows, just cleaned.

They bought them at Ikea… they are just self cling plastic stuck on some Anderson windows.

  7. OMG! Costner, like 12 years ago I worked at a sign shop with a large format printer, and we had that material, and there was a filter in Photoshop that could transform photos into stainglass, and I took a picture of William S. Burroughs and turned it into a stainglass and put it in my kitchen apartment window. It got a lot of laughs.

I bought one of those pre-printed ones from the big orange store for a bathroom window. Cut it to size… stuck it on. From five feet away it looked like stained glass and I got compliments on it.

I think it cost around $12.

However printing my own designs would rock. That could be a lot of fun.

  9. Let me know if you have any ideas, would love to design something for yah, I’m not free though 🙂
