Government Cheese?

Who does the governor think he is buffaloing? They continue with the same old argument to bring in new business to SD;

The governor said that to persuade Bel Brands to invest in Brookings, the state had to offer a mix of economic incentives from the Large Project Development Fund while it still exists, and from the new incentive program that’s future is now in doubt because of the referred law.

Bullcrap. Use your brain.

1) The dairy program at SDSU helps with research

2) There is NO state income tax on corporations

3) South Dakota workers are more productive and work for less then their peers (not that this is a good thing for workers in our state, but an incentive for companies to come here.)

I get so tired of this crap that we need to GIVE taxpayer dollars to foreign companies to lure them here, then turn around and defund education and wonder why out-of-state companies have trouble getting skilled workers from within the state . . . hmm. Ever think that some companies don’t want to come to SD because of the lack of skilled labor? I’m just saying.

10 Thoughts on “Governor Daugaard, “F’ck Education, we need money for handouts to foreign corporations.”

  1. Where’s the governor on that right wing tripe that government shouldn’t be picking winners? to let the free market operate? that government should be smaller, less obtrusive? on socialism (as he socializes the company’s costs while its profits remain private)?

Where’s the empirical, peer reviewed studies that this socialism approach works?

    Unfortunately, this is so true.

What about all of the young people who were educated in SD leaving because the wonderful big business we pay to come do not pay enough for a person to make a decent living?
I am tired of hearing how the big corporations create jobs. It is not enough for them to line their pockets on the backs of our cheap labor, we also have to pay them to come! Guess we are suppose to feel greatful for the crumbs thrown us.
Sometimes when I watch the politicians in this state and nation I feel like I am watching the Jerry Springer Show.

Oh….I forgot about our city counselors and Mr. Mike. I am sickened.

  5. Every business that is brought into SD is a low paying to minimum wage job. Our political “big wigs” are more concerned about bring jobs in, than in what they pay. Also a lot of these jobs are part time. We need jobs that pay living wage, and are full time.

  6. I would love to see a Clem like Dennis meeting with international company execs about incentives. LOL!

a good book on the subject:
    “The Great American
    JOBSSCAM
Corporate Tax Dodging and the MYTH of Job Creation”
    by
    Greg LeRoy

Rich politicians getting kickbacks from rich corporation owners that make billions on the backs of the middle class and poor.
    Good book, check it out.
    It will piss you off.

  8. I have heard about this book, but I already know the story. Cabela’s is one of the worst offenders of this kind of shit. I felt sorry for Mitchell when they got suckered by them. I’m sure since Cabela’s opened visitation to the Corn Palace has probably either gone down or stayed the same. When you build your attractions on the busiest interstate in the country, what do you expect.
