Kermit will be at Benson’s Flea Market this weekend gathering signatures and speaking with constituents about his candidacy. If you are out there, drop by and say hi!

  2. I’m not a resident of SF so can’t sign his petition. But I wholeheartedly support his candidacy. Go Kermit!

Oh man, that works on so many levels here…

  4. Taking a page from those in the SD Legislature who jump between House and Senate due to term limits. So now we see it on the City Council too. New blood needed, not retreads. Need some young people to step up and run for these political offices not recycled tired politicians who had their time and say in office.

  5. Pam, I would agree, but if no one besides a former pizza delivery driver steps up to run against Kermit, he is our best bet. That and he will challenge the current mayor way more then the other 7 councilors ever will combined.

  6. But the problem is he has no impact because he never gets consensus on anything. He comes off as whiney. It’s like he doesnt play well with others.

  7. So you think our council should be rubber stampers? Where has that gotten us? A poorly planned EC and a terminated city clerk.

  8. No, I don’t think they should be rubber stampers just for the sake of going along with the status quo. But the objections have to mean something, make an impact and be presented with other members of the Council to have more effect. It’s called working with others. Dr. Staggers didn’t show us that in his 8 years on the City Council so why should we elect him again?

  9. Technically, the current city council is half “new blood”. Unfortunately, most of them are just Huether rubber stampers…and those that challenge him are doing it more to further their future political careers rather than for the good of the people. I think it’s great that Staggers is running again, and even if most of his motions gather no traction the important questions and/or ideas are on the public record.

  10. And he did make a difference, because he held a lot of director’s feet to the fire. Just because you don’t get the votes for a resolution, does not mean you are not getting things done. I think Tim Stenga has influenced a lot of people to get involved with city government as well as BID, but none of them sit on the city council.

A new source of city revenue, just sell tickets to council
meetings to watch the cat fights between Staggers and
    Huether… I cannot wait!

  12. I still love the AL debate, the two of them could not be more different. One is truly intelligent when it comes to world affairs, one pretends to be. One in nice to your face, one is nice to you all the time.

The one who is limited, when it comes to world affairs, has
an excuse … he went to State.

Lewis & Pam are an interesting clash. I see some of both sides. What is distinct is that Staggers involves himself while the rest of the council is dead weight. Yes, for Staggers but also new blood to replace the other councilors. What’s needed most is a new mayor.

  16. PL – Couldn’t agree more, Home Rule needs to be gutted and overhauled. Right now the council’s hands are tied, they really have no power. It seems lately they are going in the opposite direction though.
