See, the AL wants us to post things like the River Greenway. Nah, I can’t do that. I decided I wanted to have a “Demotivational Sioux Falls” photo contest instead.

Nobody’s ever going to accuse you of taking stuff from the Chamber of Commerce brochures!

A shot of almost any segment of West 12th – be sure to get plenty of casino signs and used car lots in it, preferrably during road repair process. Priceless.

  4. I should actually take the pic that has bothered me for years. There’s a spot just past the top of the 10th st viaduct that would be the perfect picture of downtown. It would make a gorgeous widescreen shot. Unfortunately there is a giant bank billboard that completely messes up the shot.

You mean the railyard? Isn’t that a pretty site. The other day I was riding my bike of the viaduct and stopped at the top to look at that mess. Funny how the city is all over everyone’s butts about mowing lawns and scooping snow yet the Feds just let the RR do whatever they want. I will give them a little credit, at least they have the piles of garbage separated – LOL!

  6. That’s not what I meant but that does make me laugh.

whatever you do, don’t take pics or videotape the SFPD when they’re making traffic stops!

Why is that? I may be on to a new hobby.

Funny you mention that. There is an article in the Argus about a guy who went around filming cops doing their job who then got detained by one of the cops: http://www.argusleader.com/article/20120626/ARGUS911/120626015/Video-Police-take-camera-from-man-filming-traffic-stops?odyssey=tab|topnews|text|Home

The article is disturbing. Even worse is the comments section full of all the sheeple/”good citizens” of the community chastising this guy for filming civil servants that we pay taxes for and keeping them in line. Sadly, when I see comments sections like that I think to myself “Could most Sioux Falls residents *handle* real investigative journalism?”

I have reached out to Jesse. Hopefully he will be a new addition to the site.

The next video he should shoot is of cops eating for free at the hospitals while parking their taxpayer owned vehicles in the emergency parking lot.

You know Jesse? I would love to see him here on the site!

Wouldn’t that be kickass having a roving foot soldier shooting footage of public officials?

I wondered why there were so many cop cars at McKennan last week.

Perhaps the SFPD need to be reminded that the First Circuit Court of Appeals has stated citizens have the right to videotape police while they are conducting official business:

And the Seventh Circuit just did the same in May:

This is established law and they have no probable cause to detain a citizen merely for filming them.

As was stated elsewhere if it were not for citizens filming the police, most of the incidents that the public learns about would never come to light. I commend anyone willing to stand up for their Constitutionally protected freedoms… and if the police don’t like that they can always find a new job that doesn’t involve serving the public.
