This letter to the editor is so stupid, I don’t even think it would qualify as a bad comment on my blog;

Letter: Find new audience for ‘leftist liberal writings’

Written by G. Malcolm Jameson, M.D., Yankton

I’m not quite sure what the Argus Leader’s Jonathan Ellis might have been puffing on, but his continuous leftist liberal writings suggest some obscure mind-bending malady.

He seems to find impartial discussion, supposed insider disclosures, political fairy tales and terse comments much easier to do.

Perhaps Iowa might be a more fertile field for his politics.

Okay, Doctor ‘G’, we get it, you are a Right Wing Wacko that hates liberals, but could you give us a clue as to what these ‘liberal’ writings were about? I know that Ellis has claimed to be a bit Libertarian on some issues, and I haven’t always agreed with him, but ‘Liberal’? Hardly. I wonder if Ellis crapped his pants laughing when he read this. Hopefully the letter was written on a piece of toilet paper.

If you really want to rant about a political reporter at the AL, I would have to point towards Montgomery, while he is very talented and in depth in his reporting, he tends to lean a bit right.

7 Thoughts on “This letter doesn’t even make sense

The people who have time to pen a letter to the Argus-Leader, who don’t have to work for a living, who often live these isolated, ignorant lives – what more would you expect from them? But what is even worse is the palette of letters that the Argus CHOOSES to print! I don’t think I’ve ever seen an intelligent Letter to the Editor in the Argus. Ever!

  2. Ellis pokes fun at both sides, which in this state means he’s a flamin’ lib. Those god-loving Repubs can never be criticized, you know.

You can submit LTEs electronically to the Argus if you so desire – and based upon Jameson’s text I’m guessing it didn’t take much longer for him to draft it than it took me to type this comment. Let’s not belittle the format merely because we disagree with the viewpoint.

In any case, the Argus prints letters that provoke a response, because that keeps people coming back to the website and flipping to the Voices section – and that drives revenue.

Why do you think they print letters from the same half dozen people every month? They are often those that are extreme in their religious or political viewpoints and often those that leave most readings shaking their heads… which I promise you is 100% by design.

I have read a few LTEs that were actually well thought out and articulate… but I think they only print those when nobody else bothers to write in.

  4. I agree I thought this letter didn’t make much sense, either.

  5. I posted about this on the AL website, but it made too much sense so it had to be removed by the gate keeper.

This moron in Yankon needs to turn off the Limbuagh and get a grip. I’ve never seen Ellis as a lefty and I often make a mental note on how he keeps his writing to the facts and problem solving and not a political hack.

I think hes bitching is about the recent Ellis article which examines the current condition of this states Republican party. And what did Ellis say that was untrue? This unbridled power is corrosive in our state politics.

Speaking as a conservative, this so called Yankton MD needs to preform a cranium removal from his own asshole.

  6. Muqtar,

As someone who pens a few letters to the AL, damn near everything gets printed. Once you submit something to the AL, they send you a email confirming your identity and asking your approval before printing.

Last summer I submitted a letter that was ruthless against bike shorts Lalley. I mean it was so diabolical it cut like a knife when I reread it to myself. They sent me a confirmation email to print it and this time I declined, saying I may be the one who looks like the fool if this is printed. They emailed 2 additional times asking for approval to print, I again declined. Someone from the AG called me the next day and practically begged me to print it, even offered to soften it with a few rewrites. I said NO.

So you never read anything good in the LTTE before..OUCH!!! I’ll try harder next time.

  7. LJL, before my blogging days, I used to write a lot of letters to the editor, and there have been a couple I have retracted also, blistering shit.
