This is how the city fixes clocks?
Got a good laugh on Friday as I looked over at the downtown bus station. I have been bugging public officials for months about fixing the bus station clock. Well they fixed it. They took off the hands.

Mayor Mike was at the Empire Mall in his latest session campaigning for governor . . . uh . . . I mean doing his thing, and his ‘bride’Â busted him talking to some Iowa housewives.
I guess ADHOC(sp?) met on Friday about how to move forward and they meet with city administration (SAM) on Tuesday to iron out the details.
I guess this will not affect the SAM contract because it falls under ‘promotions’.
The interesting twist to this all is that the mayor has not signed the resolution yet. But I guess there is a stipulation that if he doesn’t sign it, it automatically goes into effect after a certain time period.
What amazes me the most is why would anyone be opposed to something so beneficial to our community? I remember when the safe-house for chronic alcoholics was being debated between the county and city council. The benefits and cost savings to the taxpayers was enormous, forget about just actually helping people. I look at this same way. This is a great economic boost to the community, teaching kids sustainability while they are exploring our community. You can’t put a price tag on it.
Mayor Huether, sign the resolution. You look foolish.
I wondered ‘who’ or at least ‘how’ they would replace Nancy.
No worries, Carleen Wild has just showed up.
Yes, municipal governments work with the school districts in their respective territories and often school and municipal elections share a ballot like they will next Tuesday in Rapid City, BUT . . . (Stu Whitney column)
Building a new sports and entertainment complex. Working to improve race relations. Finding ways to ensure schools are properly funded. Forging relationships with businesses to spark growth.
This is what you get when you take a sports writer and turn him into a city columnist overnight. Lack of understanding.
Municipal governments have NO control over School District funding, and vice versa.
While it is nice for the mayoral candidates to weigh in on the school district opt-out in Rapid City or school start dates in Sioux Falls (as our mayor thought appropriate) they really have no control over it. That is NOT a leadership issue, it is a governing/jurisdiction issue.
Please, do us all a favor and do a little research on the basic tenants of local government. After all, it is where the big decisions are made, not in publicly supplemented indoor tennis courts.
