Citations are card stock. It’s because they don’t want you to use them as toilet paper.

Important, never pay a citation. It’s an admission of guilt. You deny yourself appeals and they can cite you over and over. Fines never stop. When you get a citation, immediately ask for another. It’s double jeopardy. The original infraction is dismissed and you’re considered a permanent exception.

Build and never get a building permit for anything inside your home. There’s ongoing fees and harrassment. The system is designed for revenue, not quality of construction. For outside, forget about permits. Go the citation process but never pay (see above).

Never, never, never snitch on your neighbor. The city says they’ll keep you confidential but you’ll end up subpoenaed into court and (eventually) sued by the neighbor for false charges. You’re automatically the guilty party. Courts constitutionally reject city litigation because there’s no due process.

Any business with the city should be recorded. They’re not honest. Don’t say or sign anything without an attorney present. Everything is a setup.

I know these things from experience. Try your way and you’ll wish you’d listened.
