Instead of digging through financial reports to see who the biggest developer in Sioux Falls is donating money to, it’s all right up front with Marshall, it is pretty obvious who butters his bread;

Broker Associate

Lloyd Companies/Keller Williams Realty Sioux Falls

While I don’t take issue with realtors running for council (Councilor Erickson assists with her husband’s realty and property management business) I wonder how many recusals Marshall would have to take on votes working for the largest developer in Sioux Falls? It seems these days, the words ‘Conflict of Interest’ mean nothing to potential candidates and current councilors.

Of course, this district race is turning out to be a real drag, with the only other candidate to announce is Manny Steele who says he is running to improve education in Sioux Falls ;(

Maybe Briggs Warren can move out of his parents and get an apartment in the Southwest district and run against these two? I would even help him move. I’m sure we can get your 6 pair of jeans, yo-yo’s and box of comic books to fit in my hatchback.

7 Thoughts on “Lloyd Companies Broker newest Sioux Falls city council candidate, Southwest District

    Scott,
    You may be a bit off based on your summation. Most residential real estate brokers are independent contractors and are considered self employed. No salary, No insurance, No retirement, No guarantee of any income. Sounds like a lot of support to me.

    When Lloyd’s involved it can’t be good. An employee is a disciple that votes toward profit without public benefit. Lloyd is on the way out health wise and legally. Passing the hat will be a disaster. This must happen. The general population will benefit. It’s a new age beyond city default and restored civil liberty.

  3. Jack, so what you are saying is when Marshall brokers a property for Lloyd companies he doesn’t get a commission? He is working for free? No wonder he wants to be a city councilor, he needs some income after volunteering all day at the Lloyd Companies.

    Broker associates are independent contractors managed by a broker. The broker is boss that’s responsible for the associate. In other words, he’s a Lloyd associate paid by commission without benefits. He’s Lloyd through and through. He must refrain from Lloyd project votes for ethics reasons both council & SD Real Estate Commission. Huether will rig a city ethics hearing but he’ll have to answer to the state because I’ll make repeated complaints.

    Lord, help us if this guy wins. Planning and zoning rules will be twiste, bent and broken even more than they are now. Excuse me while I take a barf break.

  6. What about competition projects? He would have recuse then too. Not a very good representation of his district.

    The residential real estate brokerage business is a different world than the commercial real estate business. If you want to bark conflict check out the volunteers in the commercial brokerage, development and architect business that serve on the planning commission. With this narrow minded thinking Marshall wouldn’t be allowed to vote on any development projects because his vote may help or hurt a competitor. In other words, anyone in the private sector wouldn’t be able to participate in the citizen form of government because you would be so worried about someone making a profit. Lloyds employ nearly 200 people, and if their projects weren’t successful, a lot of folks would be unemployed. In all the jobs that I have ever had, I have never been hired by an unsuccessful person.
