The Sioux Falls City Council Fiscal Committee had a special working session for a reason we really haven’t figured out on February 6, 2017. Normally these meetings are recorded in Carnegie’s main chamber, and it would have been helpful to see the charts, etc. on the big screen. Prairie View Prevention is asking for assistance from the town’s budget to continue their work with at risk kids.

For some reason we can’t get video or audio recordings on several boards and commissions in Sioux Falls so the Fiscal Committee decides to drive the point home with this poorly conceived plan. They hold these meetings in a room with so much white noise it is hard to hear much less record in. If you are not sitting right in front of the tables forget about hearing anything. It’s a good thing Cameraman Bruce brought one of his latest recording tools so we can hear anything at all.

If you don’t like this kind of recording and want to help everyone hear city meetings, call and write your council members to keep pushing for transparency.

When the mayor doesn’t want to fund something, he drowns it out with static and interference. What’s at risk kids got to do with promoting tennis or building bathhouses?

  2. Thanks Scott, I did just start using a TASCAM head hooked to an iPhone 4s. It runs great, allowing me to get very clear recordings. It has been interesting to see which mic I use to get the clearest recording. This video is using the TASCAM, my other means were really muddled by the white noise.
