I was pretty surprised to hear Noem put out a robo call for TenHaken. I would think being involved with a governor’s run she wouldn’t want to complicate things. Her call I guess.

So the bigger question is what does John Thune think of the race? He is a Sioux Falls resident, his wife I believe works for Sanford. Wouldn’t he have an opinion?

You would be surprised what that opinion is.

First the facts. Mud Mile, Jolene’s advertising agency has done video/campaign work for Thune for years, NOT Clickrain. In fact Thune and his wife consider themselves personal friends with Jo and Nate. The TenHaken’s? Not so much.

I guess there was a early discussion whether Thune would endorse Loetscher, but I guess the Loetscher campaign declined. Why? Good government and common sense. I think Loetscher wanted to keep this a non-partisan race but the TenHaken campaign has decided with the endorsements and postcard from the area GOP, the Jackley press release about nothing and the Noem endorsement, that idea went off the rails. They have run a successful smear campaign making Jo look like a uber liberal victim. But that’s what the SD GOP does best, hide from the real issues and throw mud.

I would encourage Loetscher to except the Thune endorsement if he is still willing to give it, and truly show she has support from both sides of the aisle.

And without getting into to much detail, I will say, while Thune may be undecided on whether to endorse his friend Jolene, he certainly WOULD NOT endorse TenHaken. And if you can’t get the endorsement of the TOP Republican in the state that lives in Sioux Falls, it really makes you take pause, doesn’t it?

15 Thoughts on “Noem gets involved with Mayoral campaign, why not Thune?

Um… Does this mean Paul has “dirt” on Kristi too?

  2. So Thune is not big on ThuneHaken? Maybe it has more to do with the fact that Thune always respected McGovern, but probably not a Nixon….

However, I am disturbed to learn of the Jo and Thune connection, I must admit. I know business is business, but work should not be a mere compartmentalized 8 to 5 experience. Else, one’s vocation could be seen as a part of a social pathetic quality… At least ThuneHaken is consistent with his partisan beliefs and vocation – in his help of a “client” – even though he is what many of the center and left fear and distain, while Jo apparently now promotes through Thune….

Don’t get me wrong, I am still for Jo, but really folks, we need to walk the walk and talk the talk, because it is really the only way we can prevent the continual rock star approach of Republican politics, which Thune and ThuneHaken demonstrate. Where image trumps substance and the 1 % prevail, while most people sit at the back of the bus or without a bus ticket at all….

So I must begin to ask? Is this really a battle between left and right here in town, between ThuneHaken and Joe, or merely a battle of the elite, to which some of us were fooled?

Democratic politics will never begin to succeed in this state until it finds it soul and practices what its soul was meant to do….

And as far as Noem endorsing ThuneHaken, well, that’s just because she doesn’t control an AG office where she can pull a Comey…. She had to do something and not “nothing” to make it look like she was a part of the team…. And perhaps this GOP heaviness over this weekend may actually backfire on ThuneHaken, because I think most people in Sioux Falls see and want to see their mayoral race as non partisan….. So ThuneHaken might have overplayed his card with Noem….. We will see…. I wonder which elite will win?

  3. I might also add, that this interesting Jo, ThuneHaken, and Thune universe is very fascinating in that it speaks to this perhaps growing Millennial universe, where politics is less partisan and partisanship is merely used as a tool on which to distinguish oneself from your potential opponent, in order to win. One could even argue – that all though not a Millennial – that Huether is a product of this means. But now a means, which for a while at least, will continue to grow under Millennial promotion until its shelf life dissipates.

If this is the case, then this trojan quality of millennial leadership will perhaps do little to seriously solve our problems with any philosophical commitment; where staying in power trumps commitment and thus substance, and promotes a oligarchy reality where the people do not win, but the powerful become more powerful as they stage a phony war…..

Did the argus really endorse Paul? Bummer, I was hoping for a more forward thinking local paper. Well, back to the Nytimes and post for me.

  5. Lets get something straight. Jolene stepped herself into “hackgate”. She should have mentioned the voicemail and left it at that. Jo needed no help looking like the Liberal Victim. Self inflicted.

  6. It’s hard to run as non-partisan when you’re a raging liberal.

My bet is on TenHacks but I voted absentee for Loetscher. It’s impossible to defeat the 2 Mason Luminati republican billionaires who own the state. Noem was told to endorse TenHacks. Thune was told to shut up. Sorry folks, we are not free in state confinement. When there’s an income tax and internet taxes, it’s time to live in exile in Minnesota. The land of the free and home for cubicle peasants.

Don’t speak out like me. You’ll have Russian ten hack attempts on your personal information. I bank out of state and pay for credit monitoring. When every mayoral candidate had their web sites hacked except for TenHack’s, hmmm?

If elected can we expect NixonHacken to employ cyber Watergate methods against those whom he considers threats and annoyances?

The religious fake Christian fanatics have enthusiastically posted on social media that he will govern biblically. Along with an endorsement by FHA it looks like interesting times ahead.

VSG, I see a future in which Dordt College quietly assumes the mission of DSU. Would it not be cleaner and easier to cultivate future cyber spooks at a small private college? Why endure the inconveniences of doing this sort of work through the workings of a public university?

I think most people don’t like anything that smells of corruption and the “good old boys” network. I am always amazed at how liberals profess to want to hear everyone’s voice unless it conflicts with theirs True conservatives want limited government because no matter what side of the isle you are on government always screws things up. In South Dakota, while not perfect, is one of the best places to live and I wish we would focus on that and if you want progressive liberal agenda maybe a blue state is a better place for you. I know republicans are not perfect and many are swamp creatures but, you don’t have to look to far to see what progressive Democrat polices get you. Take a look at all the cities with the most crime and are dead broke they all have one thing in common, they are run by democrats. I am not saying all democrats are like this but, the blind allegiance you all speak of here is the issue and you say the same thing about the other side of the fence. I see many comments on here calling TenHaken NixonHaken, come on now. Jo, regardless of her gender or politics, has NO business running a city when she can’t even handle a simple phone call from Paul and called it a threat. If you listen to it regardless of what you think of Paul that is the nicest threat I have ever heard. I am sure I will get a lot of shit from many of you but, I will be interested to see if there are any folks on here who will be open and honest about both candidates and their flaws.
