New TV Partnership in Sioux Falls is going to give us a lot of news . . . we’ll see

Starting January 13, 2020 we are going to get assaulted with news;

Beginning Monday, January 13, join us for FIRST AT FOUR NEWS on KDLT! Join KSFY and KDLT for three hours of local news starting 4 – 5 p.m. on KDLT, 5 – 5:30 p.m. on KSFY, 5:30 – 6 p.m. on KDLT, 6 – 6:30 p.m. on KSFY, and 6:30 – 7 p.m. on KDLT.

I will keep my opinion to myself for now on this concept. I wonder if they will be sharing stories, reporters and anchors? Get ready for 3 hours of wiener dog races and food truck reviews.

Oh ffs neither of these channels are able to fill 30 minutes. 3 hours of nothing but weather updates and Sanford/Avera infomercials?

#2 Timbuktu on 01.02.20 at 8:54 pm

3 hours of local news! Ug. I watch the first 10 minutes for weather and headlines. The rest is a waste of time. This is a terrible idea.

If the breaks are filled with Prilosec commercials it may pay it’s way.

Three hours of local news? That makes C-SPAN seem sexy. Imagine if KELO had offered three hours of local news a day during the whole week they once memorialized Wild Bill.

this has failure written all over it. what is actually needed is a 9pm newscast on one of the sub channels.

The only saving grace of this schedule rippling will be if one or both stations can – or will be allowed by their respective network affiliation(s) – to program the network nightly news at 5p and 6p. We’re currently offered ABC/NBC/CBS evening news on weekdays at 5:30p only.

#7 Erica on 01.03.20 at 4:07 pm

Pretty sure noone asked for this and nor is it needed. Very absurd.

If you don’t want to watch, switch channels- you could watch MSNBC and hear about Russia collusion, obstruction of justice, abuse of power and whatever the complaint of the week is for 23 hours a day and about the sterling democrat can’tidates for the other hour

Maybe they could spend a half hour on brew pubs in town, then a half hour on boutiques in town, then a half hour about Sanford, then a half hour about Thune and Rounds handing out some metals, then a half hour of critiquing their competitors’ local news courage, and then finish up with a half hour of local weather.

( – and Woodstock adds: “When is Dusty going to start handing out some metals?”….”And they better do some sports, too, because I am sure some ‘Dauminator’ commercials could cover the cost”….)

#10 "Very Stable Genius" on 01.03.20 at 7:34 pm

Or, Matt, we could go to your house and watch ‘North Korea at Five’ and watch Trump hold hands with a commie in a way that would even make a Nixon blush.

#11 "Woodstock" on 01.04.20 at 12:00 pm

“Don’t laugh, the best way to watch CSPAN is to turn off the audio, then play some Barry White to it”….. #Sexy

#12 'DAUMINATOR.' WE'RE ON IT. on 01.04.20 at 12:32 pm

KELO should counter all of this by doing three hours of local news, which is anchored by the “Comeback Kids” of Sexhauer, Hickock, and Berry.

( and Woodstock adds: “‘Sexhauer, Hickock, and Berry?'”…. “I think they represented me in court once, for that time I got into a little trouble at an axe bar”….)

This is way too much news. I’m sure there will be considerable repetition.
People will be switching channels.
