Wages! We need to be talking about wages. So many of these problems are due to the fact that South Dakotans are underpaid. Democrats need to sponsor legislation requiring all job posts in the state to include the wage scale of the job. We need wage inflation in South Dakota and the sooner the better. Economic development talk itself is merely a continuation of the status quo in terms of wages. We need wage talk and not just economic development talk.
VSG: 100% with you that all job posts should be required to include wage scale. We’ve heard enough whining about “we can’t find employees to fill our openings”. Many employers need to quit hiding what they’re willing to pay – particularly for hourly wage positions. PUT UP OR SHUT UP/SHUT DOWN.
