Unlike the classic satire, I am not suggesting Dems sell their kids for food. But I am suggesting they do something extreme.

All elected Democratic officials in the state of South Dakota should resign their posts immediately. Doesn’t matter if you are a Sheriff, County Commissioner, Township foreman, School Board member, State’s Attorney, State legislator, City Councilor or a dog catcher. JUST QUIT!

For over 50 years the SD GOP has dominated this state in super majorities in about every body of government you can think of, they are even taking over our high court, yet the party continues to allow the corrupt and lawless members to terrorize Democrats and blame them for all the bad and radical things that happen in this state. So why don’t we just give them what they want? 100% control. Once the PURE one-party rule takes hold and more corruption, lawlessness, nepotism, chaos, mysterious deaths, orgies, and general mayhem continues (or probably get worse) they will only have themselves to blame and will no longer be able to cheer Brandon or piss on Biden signs.

It will also allow the Democratic Party in South Dakota to re-organize so once the failed one party fascist authoritarian state totally collapses on itself they can pounce. It will also give Dems the time to create hundreds of initiatives and referendums to overturn all of their prehistoric laws like the tax on food, funding government through gambling and ZERO taxation for Foreign Dictator owned trusts.

Let’s give the SD Republican Party what they truly want, all the power, but with that responsibility comes liability. Let’s see how they handle that modest proposal.

15 Thoughts on “A Modest Proposal for South Dakota Democrats

What about an initiative to make it harder to be a RV citizen/voter in this state?

But are there enough caring Republican attorneys in this state to find 66 Republican lawyers willing to do the work of all of the State’s Attorney offices in this state?

Some Republicans are already plotting this themselves. In 2021, there were attempts in Pierre to remove the two party involvement on some boards and commissions, and there was an attempt to make county auditors and treasurers to be appointed by Republican dominated county commissions and not elected offices in their own right.

Sometimes the best strategy is to retreat and then become a successful guerrilla force. The communists used it in Vietnam and Cuba. Republicans in South Dakota like to loosely call Democrats in this state “commies”. So let’s have at it. AND, don’t forget, the Vietcong and Castro eventually won. 😉

( and Woodstock adds: “Oh, so now we are communists?”… “Really?”…. “Or, is this just some kind of Halloween ploy to scare the GOP back into reality, or what they call ‘Fair & Balanced’?”…. )

The South Dakota Democratic Party brand is damaged beyond repair but two parties could emerge. The Socialist/Marxist Party of SD and the Centrist/Moderate Party of SD.

Seems radical. What if many democrats in office change party? For many, doesn’t matter which party. They’re in it for the favors monetarily and other consideration. This state is not unlike other states. Illinois is more corrupt. Whatever form of government this is, it’s no longer democracy. Not all are represented and it’s getting worse.

  4. I have never met a liberal Dem in S.D. involved in the party. The only Libs I know in S.D. are Indy like me.

  5. Theocratic Republic of SD, “could emerge”?
They already have..and nationwide. A long time ago.
Can’t believe how many people honestly believe we have anything other than a uniparty and that any of them in Govt truly care about the people beyond those people’s money.

    Wake up.

Accountability for the outcome from the circumstance which you describe will not be placed by the voting public upon the Republican party.
The result will be that which is currently happening in the SD Repub Party (noting that the state is essentially completely controlled by the Repub Party, notwithstanding the small portion of Dem officeholders). The guns will be turned inward, with shots fired at other members of the party.
It IS pretty rich to see guys like Lee Schoenbeck branding hard right Republican state legislators as “RINOs” and “liberals”! Damn good entertainment! Ah, the irony of the pot calling the kettle black!

Meanwhile, the average Main Street rube who doesn’t follow closely the inside baseball machinations of political dealings will keep pulling the lever for those candidates sporting the ‘R’. “Not gonna’ vote for them baby killing, free lunch-loving liberals like AOC.”

Folks, mark your calendar for November 8th and 9th!

On the 8th, Republicans in Pierre are going to try to enact new legislative districts for the state. But there is only one problem, the House Republicans and Senate Republicans are fighting over how the final map should look. This should be a good one, and if they don’t come up with an agreement between the two chambers before December 1st, then it’s turned over to the State Supreme Court to draw the final map.

Then on the 9th, the Republicans with their super majority are going to contemplate impeaching their own Republican Attorney General. But, can you really impeach and try a public official in one day? Doesn’t it go to House Judiciary first, then the State House of Representatives for a vote, then conceivably to the State Senate for a trial? Or, is this just all going to be a kangaroo moment with the hopes that Jason will be intimidated into resigning, while his office is referring investigations into Governor Kristi’s alleged unethical actions?

I would say that the system is working here, but with one political party totally in charge, I am not sure if this will be as judicious as much as it will be a private reckoning, or shake-down, in a state where the super majority party likes to keep secrets and transparency is replaced with the political art of merely publicly going through the motions of claimed and justified democratic actions.

  8. Mark my words, Rumblestrips will never be impeached, he also will not be re-elected. They know in the back of their minds he should be, but they want to prevent Noem from appointing a fake incumbent crony to challenge Jackley. As for Noem, she will NEVER be implicated for any of her corruption because the one party system of fascists in this state will always protect their own. The are so neck high in scandals that at this point there is no turning back.

Noem as governor has accelerated South Dakota turning into one big concentrated manure pit. Then you have all these people moving from other states to SD that fell for her freedom from rules with living in a society campaign that will make it worse. They think they are moving to a leave it to beaver utopia with a queen and her knights in the legislature.

  10. There is a frequent speaker at the city council meetings that moved here from Seattle. He likes to tell us he moved here because Seattle has become a s-hole and he loves Noem. When you look this guy up you will see he made a pretty damn good living in development and real estate in the Seattle. So Seattle was good for him when he was making gobs of money, but as soon as he retired he ran off to SD. We know why most people move here, to avoid income taxes. The funny part is I have not seen him for a few weeks, I’m sure he already when South for the winter (just as long as his tax-dodging address remains in SD).

  11. Maybe the frequent speaker at the city council meetings was here for six months and had to leave his camping spot?

Noem is more popular outside of South Dakota than she is in. All these Conservatives and Libertarians love her. I then educate them about Noem being that everything about her and what she has accomplished is fabricated being a very hollow person with not much original thought being a grifter. After I add the vast history of South Dakota corruption, RV voters and how people hide wealth and evade taxes they not only are turned off by Noem but never want to set foot in South Dakota. They are in shock! South Dakota one big concentrated manure pit.

l3wis’s second comment here does a great job of explaining how an entire impeachment inquiry can be done in one day. #OnlyInSouthDakota #GoingThruTheMotions

There is no state income tax in Washington.
Whatever his motivation(s), that person didn’t move to South Dakota to avoid state income taxes.
