Recently our fine mayor, Poops, as his family knows him, decided to brag in the rag serendipitously funded by his close friends (something those supposed rogue journalists don’t tell folks) about how our building permits are hitting records.

They are.

But not because of private industry, profit and the amazing benefits of the free market system but because the taxpayers of this community are propping up building permits that we really shouldn’t be counting or paying for. Public projects and non-profits should NOT be counted as building permits valuation.

We have to pay for the project on the front end, we have to pay for the interest and bond payments, and we have to maintain the facility. Building multi-million dollar projects paid for by taxpayers is NOT progress, it is regression (in financial obligations), and with the amazing growth in this city with PRIVATE new construction, the taxes should come in and up naturally, but they don’t because of the welfare tax system.

In his article he claims;

• $170 Million for wastewater

• $50 million for private parking ramps

• Airport parking ramp

• SD One Stop office building

• Multiple non-profit facilities

Not only do we get ZERO property tax revenue from these projects, they cost us, A LOT! Not sure how you can brag about building permit progress, when the projects are being funded by taxpayers and non-profits that pay no taxes.

I get it, multiple contractors in our city are working on big projects, and ironically, you and I are paying for it.

Break out the bottle of champagne, let’s celebrate spending my tax dollars on stuff I don’t give a sh!t about!

The private sector in this community is like a baby’s diaper that just isn’t quite full enough, but smells to the high hilt.

  1. First Thune endorses Trump.

Then McConnell announces his retirement from his Senate leadership position.

AND, then Thune announces he’s running for that leadership position.

Are you seeing what I’m seeing?

Especially, if you remember how Thune disassociated himself from Trump in October of 2016 after the Access Hollywood video came-out (the one about cats), but then a week later, after Trump survived that, Thune was on team Trump once again….

Oh, and how about in January of 2021, when Trump tweeted that he wanted Noem to challenge Thune for the South Dakota Senate seat?

There’s definitely a pattern here. Don’t you think?

(I wonder if he’s ever read ‘Profiles in Courage’?)

  2. It’s all a big club and you ain’t in it.. sent you a email about ads.

Chief of staff makes over 200.000$

  3. Our Chief of Staff is the prime minister. Our Mayor is the ceremonial king, but who’s the “Spare”.

  4. The mafia was prosecuted and lost power from RICO antitrust legislation. The political establishment is organized crime, how can there be change if they’re the ones making laws? Is there anyone in public office representing citizens? Seems to be groups of special interest frats and sores who never matured past toga parties. Wind and weather change less often than SD political types. Trump has become wingman for a desperate governor and senator looking for another dysfunctional title beyond the present terms.

  5. Scott,

Why do you suppose the permit valuations go up? I would agree I would not judge the economy by the # of permits or their valuations. But, correct me if I am wrong, but the amount of the permit Is based on the property value, construction value, etc. I still believe Inflation is way more than 3%. Anyone that says otherwise is lieing ot you. I believe Inflation is more than 50% and I am serious. And it does no help that these carbon companies are coming in to take part of our land, which is going to raise land values even more.

  6. Inflation is 50%? Have you been watching FOX News again? But if you are right, then this is the Weimar Republic and Hitler is next, I mean Trump.

  7. Scott,

Relax, Enjoy Life, and Have Fun. But No, I do not watch Fox News, CNN, MSNBC, or any of the National Cable News Lie Stations. I never even brought politics into this. I used my experience in shopping around from store to store, place to place, and my experience in buying and selling used cars. Depending on the sector, Inflation is more than 50% and nearly as high as 100% in some parts of the market sector. I can tell you in the used car business, car prices are way above 70%, and the Food Market is above 60%. I know you will attack the private businesses themselves, but honestly, its government red tape, taxation, and government debt that is the problem. You should maybe keep your receipts from year to year, pricing the same products from year to year, and tell me if you disagree with me then. I am telling you to compare apples to apples, not apples to bananas like the Federal Govt does. Rather than being so confrontational, I encourage you to discuss things rational, respectful, and without the added theaatr. No everything said has to be political in nature. This is not a republican or democrat issue.

Please go to Sunshine Food Market and price from 2021 and 2024

    Loaf of Bread $______

    Gallon of Milk $_____

    Box of Cerial $_____

    Bag of Potatoes $_____

    Bag of Wheat $______

    Carton of Eggs $ ______

(Stick to the Same Brand, QTY, and TYpe)

  8. @Fear&Loathing the spare would be the propaganda mouthpiece making $104k or woke policy advisor $99k

  9. Mike, there is a solution to food inflation, eat less. That’s what I did 3 years ago and lost about 90 lbs. I agree, I think some food costs have gone up well over 200%, the middle man is making the money while screwing farmers and grocers and consumers. In 2026 you will see all these docs about how the oil companies and certain food companies took us to the cleaners and the media companies were complicit because of their obsession with the Orange Menace and his latest crime or sexual adventure. I have owned my house for 22 years this Fall, and for the first time I am considering planting a garden. Granted, it will probably just be tomatoes but it is a start. Your front yard would make a great garden.

  10. Mike, shop at Walmart. It’s a pact with the Devil, but they are cheaper and some of them even allow free camping. #StickToTheSameBrandDamnIt! #FallingPrices

( and Woodstock adds: “‘Sunshine’?”…. “Who in the hell shops at Sunshine except for maybe some nostalgic stagnation foosl?”….. ( ….. “‘Sunshine'”….. “Hell, I stopped shopping there when they stopped doing ‘Fun at the Races’ with Ken Hirsch on Tuesday nights”…. ( ….. “Although, I did hear they used to have a checker who looked just like Kristi, but she sported Chuck Taylors….. Definitely not a cowgirl conservative type of shoe”…. 🙂 )))

  11. The inflation we experienced in reason years was due to covid and its by-product, which was demand versus supply chain issues. We’ve run federal deficits for years and had a lot of red tape, too, with little to no inflation under both Democratic and GOP Presidents until covid struck.

( and Woodstock adds: “I think Mike is a graduate of the Jack Kemp School of the Gold Standard & Deficits = Inflation School of Government”….. ( …. “Kemp should have stuck to ice cream and/or football”….. ))
