In Politics: Nationally: According to most of the polls, the Presidential race is too close for comfort. According to the New York Times’ latest poll, the Presidential race has become a “dead heat” as Trump has pulled even with Kamala Harris despite the one Billion dollars Harris has spent so far on her campaign. As a Democrat it is very frustrating to see Trump gain momentum despite the scary and outlandish things he says and does. It was pointed out to me today that 40 of the 44 Cabinet members from his previous Administration have refused to endorse him, many publicly expressing their support for Kamala, while his former chief-of-staff , John Kelly, called Trump a Fascist. A strong word and a collective warning to all of us. Yet, Trump continues to gain support. Can anyone explain this to me!
As for myself, I have regressed to nail biting and drink.
In Politics: South Dakota: The South Dakota Democratic Party (SDDP) chose to oppose Amendment H (open primaries), apparently lacking confidence in Democratic Party candidates’ ability to come in second in primary contests between two (or more) Republicans and one Democrat.
Voter registration statistics from the South Dakota Secretary of State reinforce the wisdom of the SDDP’s opposition to Amendment H. Although Democrats have reversed their steady decline in registered voters, adding almost 2000 new registrants since Kamala Harris became their Presidential Nominee, Republicans added over 6600 voters to their rolls at the same time. So, despite progress, the SDDP continues to fall further and further behind the GOP. The SDDP’s lack of confidence in its electoral ability and its own relevance appears well placed.
In percentage terms, 51% of voters have chosen the Republican Party and 23% see themselves as Democrats. Only a minority of South Dakotans are buying what the SDDP is selling and, under its current leadership, it appears to be condemned to wander in the political wilderness for another 40 years.
But that’s the problem with so many people’s analysis of this campaign, it’s not a “dead heat”. The only polls that matter are the ones in the swing states, where they are virtually tied, but when you factor in that Trump historically outperforms his polling numbers by 4 to 6 points, and that pollsters have met about this issue (in 2021), but have never figured how to address this issue, then Trump is comfortably leading in states like PA, WI, MI, and NV, and thus, he will win. This race will be over by 9 pm central time on election night even after factoring in mail-in ballots that have not been counted yet.
The only problem with my analysis, however, is that this Trump polling phenomenon does not seem to happen in Sun Beltbelt states so much, where Trump is also ahead but not by much and in 2020 was leading in states like GA and AZ going into the election, which he then lost. The only way I can explain this is that polling is less authentic in the Rust Belt because of the heavy discontent and cynism which still prevail in that part of our country due to the shockwaves that NAFTA caused and pollsters have not figured out a way to tap into that constituency for effective polling. So, if Harris is going to win this, she’s going to have to carry NC, GA, AZ, and one of the following states of WI, MI, and PA, with NV – the gambling state – being a wild card.
AND, no doubt Trump is a fascist, but the fact that a nominee of a major political party has to call their prime opponent a fascist, and just days before the election, shows you just how desperate the Harris camp is. Her surrogates should be calling Trump a fascist and not her. I am afraid we are at that point in the campaign where Harris is beginning to throw everything at the wall in hopes that something sticks.
How did we get here? Well, we should have never replaced Biden. What happened to Joe on June 28th was classic Joe, but Joe historically has been, or was, a cat with nine lives, but the Democratic elite, I’m afraid, had him for lunch before the illegals could ever get to him.
( and Woodstock adds: “Say, I know that, Scott, loves Tiny Desk Concerts …. So, here’s a new one that’s pretty good… 😉 ( ….. “Man, I sure wish I could find that old footage of the time when Tiny Tim did a Tiny Desk Concert…. 🙁 ….. ) ……:

“AND, then again, there’s also this Tiny Desk Concert, too”….. 🙂 ……:

I might add to my analysis that the phrase “was leading in states like GA and AZ” should be “was ‘barely’ leading…” and the phrase “which he then lost” should be “which he then ‘barely’ lost”….
Donald Trump will be the 47th President, and he is NOT a fascist. He is working with America First Patriots in all 50 States to completely fix the problems in D.C. A complete overhaul of the Federal Government is in order. We plan to reorganize, reconstruct, and rebuild the federal government back to our Christian principles, the original foundation, and fire as many long time career Federal Officers, Managers, Employees that are not loyal to the American States. A Fascist would try to control the states, Trump is not trying to control the states, he attempting to free them from the controls of the federal government, And when Trump is done, in the years ahead, Kai Trump will become the first Women President in America history. Yes, the grand-daughter of Donald Trump will follow in his foot steps by the year 2043, shortly after we have fixed, and put the Federal Govt back together in proper order.
Mike, so are you going to tell Pierre that they will lose half the state budget? You know the feds fund SD by 51%, when the feds cut their ties with the states where will we get our mone?
“Back to our Christian principles”?….. But most of our founding fathers were Deists, and Deists are not Christians, because they don’t believe in the Holy Trinity….. It’s important to know your history before you make such historic claims. But, then again, Mike sounds too much like many of my fellow Democrats who are about to repeat history because they don’t know their history, so there you go.
Oh, and the thought that Mike claims Trump is not a fascist, but yet he associates Trump with an organization called “America First Patriots” is very alarming, if you ask me…. But, then again, is that why Khaki futures have been soaring recently?…… Buy Levi stock, I guess….. 🙂
( and Woodstock adds: “Say, what about those backyard patio Tiki torches, have their futures been going up, too?”….. “Maybe we should start buying Lowes and Home Depot stock as well….. just saying”….. 🙂 )
Not only will he be the 47th, but he will probably be the last president unless he gets Alzheimer’s real soon – some say he already has it – and then Vance will take over…. AND Vance, well, he’ll be our first hillbilly president. Now, some say Clinton was, but Clinton owned a pair of shoes and kept them on even when he was enjoying a cigar, if you know what I mean.
Wow, it’s all beginning to make sense to me. Do you remember right after that assassin took a shot at Trump in Butler, PA, that Trump eventually stood up, and before the Secret Service could wisk him away, he demanded that he be allowed to put his shoes back on? What? No shoes on? Why? Was he just trying to fit in with his hillbilly running mate in the backcountry, or what? But then again, Carville has always said that PA was Pittsburgh to the left and Philly to the right, with Alabama right up the middle…. 🙂
mike sounds like he’d like to turn the country into one big hutterite colony.
And the Hutterites like to speak German, right?….. Are you thinking what I’m thinking?
Scott, in order to understand the state budget, you first have to destringuish between the Federal State versus the Republic of South Dakota first. The State of South Dakota is a federal state, and South Dakota made up of the free inhabbintants of the land are the comlete sovereign and independent republic totally self funded by a mixture of state and local taxes, fees, and grants. You have to divide the ‘state’ in two, all federal taxes and fees go to fund the Federal Offices, Administration, Programs, Properties. I actually go in more detail on my website at Sioux Falls Community Chronicle…
As for V.S.G, I am quite aware of our history, probally more so than most, dating back as early as 1,000 A.D.E when the European people first began coming to America, to the conquests of Spain, Britain, and France between 1400-1800. Knowing the role the Virgnia Land Company played on this continent between 1600-1800, you begin to understand the social compacts and engagements being agreed to by all these groups of people. And knowing that much of the early settlers between 1650 and 1750 were Ulster Scots, German Lutherans, the Morivians, and the English, you begin to see the early framework to our government being laid. Those christian principles guiding us down a morally, self-sufficient people, were laying the guidestones to what would become the United States between 1760-1860. You see, we actually built our government structure based on the Mosaic form of government, allowing the people govern themselves as free, independent, and soverieng states, which form a nation of people, to who self appointed their President, a National Legislature, and a Court.
Mike, you do understand that things evolve, right? And the problem often with your assessments of our national history, and where we have been and where we are going, is that you keep forgetting about the 14th Amendment and how that amendment changed us from the united States of America to the UNITED States of America.
Did Christians come to America? Absolutely, but so have people of other faiths as well over the years – and some of no faith – and if you want to make this a “Christian Nation”, then how do you reconcile that attitude with the 1st Amendment, and especially in regards to religious freedom and a potential established religion by our government?
Oh, and just for fun, here’s a fun fact. The first mosque built in America was built in North Dakota. That freedom of religion thing is just everywhere, I guess.
“‘America First Patriots’?”….. “Boy, that don’t sound like no Lincoln High School booster club to me”…. 🙁
Man, first Mike is going to try to turn us all into Christians, and then next he’s probably going to force all of us to enlist in the “State Militia”…. 🙁
What I do know, is that most people do not even understand the history of America, if they did, they would understand how we established ourselves as sovereign, and independent groups of people on the land. Such as this story about the Virginia Land Company, and the to stake out claims, ties to the land for commercial practice.
Virginia Land Company – https://www.siouxfallscommunitychronicle.com/the-virginia-land-company
Furthermore, in the Story About America https://www.siouxfallscommunitychronicle.com/interesting-story-of-america – we learn more about how we established our ‘states’ upon the land as per the compacts, treaties, agreements first agreed upon between 1760-1790.
You may disagree with me on my opinions, but we need to discuss politics in a calm, respective manner, with no insults if we are to ever fix, and rebuild America tomorrow.
I truly, and honestly believe, this America First Movement to completely take back control, and rebuild America began after 1990, when George Bush announced the New World Order, every seven years you can see a new chapter form. In 1997 the NEOCON movement inside the Republican Party led by a group of liberal ex-democrats that moved the party to the left ushering in the Patriot Act, and helping to lead to the ACA in 2009. By 2010, the Tea Party Movement leading to new Patriots grabbing control of the party, to which leads to using a precinct strategy to put into the party new people, take control of the U.S House to cause disruption, to slow down the progressive, socialist agenda, leading to Trump’s first term, and now Trumps second term to finally gain control of Washington D.C to reduce the size of government, cut the budget, and rebuild the government itself.
And to answer the previous question, related to State Militia, All People of the State ages 18 and up, are members of the militia, to help defend and protect our state borders, public and private properties, enforce the constitution.
“If I’m actually a part of the ‘State Militia,’ then where’s my fancy uniform?”….. #IWantItNOW!
“….. In 1997 the NEOCON movement inside the Republican Party led by a group of liberal ex-democrats that moved the party to the left ushering in the Patriot Act…..”
WHAT? Can you name them? ( …. “I think we should leave the Democratic Party as liberals so we can join the Republican Party and then start wars in the Middle East”….. #ButWhy? )
And the Patriot Act led to the ACA? What? So, are you saying that the Clintons’ failure to get comprehensive health care passed in the mid-90s led to them allowing 9/11 to happen so we could eventually have the ACA? Wow, that’s a stretch I haven’t heard of since the time Rose Mary Woods was to have claimed to have bent over backward in a very awkward fashion in order to “accidentally” erase or create a 17-minute gap in the Nixon White House tapes.
But, I would agree with you that the Tea Party Movement was a precursor to Trumpism. Trump saw the potential there and put it to work undoubtedly, and especially with his Birther Movement where he claimed Obama was not born in America, because Obama’s father was from Kenya, while all along, and unknown to most, Trump’s mom herself had been born in Scotland, and then latter on Trump became a “legitimate” president.
Oh, and keep talking here, Mike, because you are a lot of fun to have around….. “Can’t live with him, can’t live without him”…. 🙂
