The SFSD put out this survey recently;
Hello SFSD Parent/Guardian,A committee is meeting to learn more about cell phone/smartwatch use during the school day. Please take the survey by clicking the one-time-use link. Do not forward the link.
Each email address we have on file for parents/guardians receives one invite for the survey. If you have more than one child, consider answering with your oldest child in mind or coordinate with the other parent to submit responses that represent your feedback for two levels – either elementary, middle, or high school.
The deadline for the survey is Friday, January 31, 2025.We thank you for your time and participation.
Sincerely,Sioux Falls School District
I think they should be banned, and I wouldn’t even allow them to bring them on school property. If your parents need to get a hold of you they can do like my mother did, call the front desk and ask to speak to your child.
How was this even allowed to begin with? Plus, cell phones are nerdy. They are, at best, a necessary evil and are not devices to communicate with, but rather devices used by most to either control others or be controlled by others. No, I’m serious. People who are tied to their cell phones are nothing but sheep, and those who keep getting new phones are fools. Hell, my landline phone I’ve had for decades, and I don’t have to pay another $400 every two years and sign a contract to keep it or its capability. I never carry my cell phone with me unless I’m traveling or there is a developing family crisis or issue that it can facilitate. Oh, and my current phone will soon be 6 years old, and it’s the first personal cell phone I’ve had in about twenty years (I got my first cell phone in ’95), because, before that, I used to always take my Wife’s hammy down cell phone (When she got a new one every two years 😉 ).
