Sioux Falls Municipal Band • 100 Year Anniversary

This is a great video, I applaud the citylink media people who put this together – nice job! I liked how at one time the musicians were union . . .

RIP – Dick Dale

I had the pleasure of meeting Dick Dale several times. One of the more funnier moments was when he was playing Knights of Columbus and kicked his grandson in the butt for not tuning his amp correctly. And he did it while playing the guitar . . . I’m sure him and Jimi are jamming right now.

There is a brief silent intro to video.

Music Club W/Jason Isbell

Just listen to this guy’s lyrics, nevermind all the fancy musicianship. He reminds me of my favorite songwriter of all time, Hank Sr. REAL. HARD. and SAD. Some people just get it, Jason is one of them.

Willie Nelson, Vote M’ Out!

RIP – Aretha Franklin

I consider myself lucky I got to see her in 2015 at Saturday in the Park.

Pomp Room Documentary (Early) Trailer

I was one of the patrons that was interviewed, not sure if I will make the final cut, and heck I can’t even remember what story I told, I have so many. I used to have a FREE pass to the place when I started creating the ticket artwork, so I spent most weekends there, met tons of musicians and friends at the place. It was always a blast. Heck, they even used to let me park my bike in the liquor storage room.

Part dive bar and part home, The Pomp Room was the greatest rock and roll club in South Dakota. Filmmakers Austin Kaus and Jesse Yost are currently hard at work to tell the venue’s story with The Pomp Room: The Documentary. When completed, the film will capture the spirit of the legendary South Dakota venue with photos, flyers, and–most importantly–interviews with the bands, employees, and patrons that were there for all of the chaotic beauty that was The Pomp Room. See where Aerosmith played a surprise show, Fugazi got a great dinner recommendation, and Marilyn Manson learned why it’s important NOT to piss off the bouncers. Please enjoy and share this trailer, and follow Facebook.com/PompRoomDoc for updates and anecdotes as the film moves toward completion. Remember the Pomp Room’s motto: IF IT AIN’T LIVE, IT’S DEAD.

Roy Zimmerman Concert, Monday at All Souls

Join us on Monday, May 28th at 7pm as we welcome musician Roy Zimmerman to All Souls. ReZist is ninety minutes of Roy Zimmerman’s original songs, a funny and forceful affirmation of Peace and Social Justice. “Sometimes I think satire is the most hopeful and heartfelt form of expression,” says Roy, “because in calling out the world’s absurdities and laughing in their face, I’m affirming the real possibility for change.”

Roy’s songs have been heard on HBO and Showtime, and his videos have garnered tens of millions of views.  He has recorded for Warner/Reprise Records. He’s shared stages with Bill Maher, Ellen DeGeneres, Holly Near, Robin Williams, Arlo Guthrie, John Oliver, Kate Clinton and George Carlin, and tours the country constantly with his wife and co-writer Melanie Harby.

Cost of the concert is $20 or “pay what you can.”
