Is Rounds still lying about his state airplane fleet?

“When lying, do it with a wink and a smile.”

In response to my letter in the June 25 Argus Leader, Gov. Mike Rounds called me a liar in his letter in the July 10 Argus Leader. In my letter I stated federal transportation money was used to buy state airplanes. In his letter, Rounds said, “No federal transportation money has ever been used to buy state planes.” Governor, have you read the Oct. 21, 2007, Argus Leader article explaining the state’s 2007 purchase of a 1999 King Air 90 airplane for $1.9 million and its 2005 purchase of a 1995 King Air 90 for $1.5 million and how the $23 million of Amtrak reimbursement money the state received in 1997 helped in the purchase of those planes? Now that I’ve got your attention, governor, what happens to the Governor’s Club money when you leave office? How many planes does the state own and how much have we paid for them? What else, if anything, has the state done with the $23 million of Amtrak reimbursement money that was received?

It doesn’t surprise me that he continues to fib about the planes, what surprises me is that people continue to believe his bullshit.
