There has been a lot of talk about a new coffeehouse in downtown Sioux Falls;

Friends,

I am proud to announce the beginning of Josiah’s Coffeehouse & Café, opening this Friday morning at 6 am here in Sioux Falls.

Located in the new Lumber Exchange Building, home of CNA Surety on the East Bank of Downtown, we offer phenomenal coffee, a long list of espresso drinks and a full menu of made-from-scratch bakery items. We also have a full menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner – including unique salads, wraps, grilled Panini sandwiches and personal pizzas.

Our website is live if you want to see more – www.josiahscoffee.com.

Our menu can be found at www.josiahscoffee.com/our-food/josiahs-menu/.

We are open:
Mon – Thurs, 6 am-8 pm
Fri – Sat, 6 am – 10 pm
Sun, 8 am – 3 pm

And don’t forget, Friday night, across the street from Josiah’s at 8th & RR Center, is the first Downtown Block Party of the summer – from 6 am – 10:30 pm. Great food and entertainment will take place there. Stop by Josiah’s for pizza or other dinner items or coffee and our signature coconut cupcakes.

Saturday morning, come downtown to visit two great Farmer’s Markets – one at the Falls and one at 8th & RR.

Great things happening downtown.

All my best.

Steve H.

I talked to a politician this morning who contemplated the idea of starting a non-partisan political breakfast club at Steve’s place, I like the idea, you never know? Even Ellis was talking about it today.

I’m not a coffeehouse person anymore, but If I want to meet with someone who doesn’t like beers or vodka, it works for me.

More power to them, but the number of eateries in the downtown area that have slashed hours and/or closed recently is pretty alarming. I’m sure when Steve put this idea together he was banking on the EC being built downtown, but it seems he will need to rely upon the employees of CNA to make a run at it.

I have no doubt he can be successful as a coffee shop… but another place selling salads and paninis? We need one of those like we need another video lottery casino.

I have to laugh about a place that hasn’t even opened yet announcing a “signature” item though. How about you give it a year or two and let the customers decide what they like before you assume something.

  3. Actually Steve made this decision after the EC vote. He was made aware of the opportunity in a Build It Downtown meeting when the building’s owner made a reference that they wanted to open a coffee shop/restaurant on the main floor and he asked if anyone in the room knew any one interested.

Steve was advocating the EC downtown for the same reason he’s going into business downtown; there’s been a lot of positive changes recently and there’s even more to come. In short, you go where the action is.

  4. One other point on Josiah’s, Steve was also smart enough to hire Todd Jerentowski to run it. If you don’t know Todd he is to coffee what Steve is to Politics = a local guru.

  5. Yeah, Todd was lucky enough to have Michelle Dill as a teacher 🙂

  6. No comment.

Went to Josiah’s this morning. My coffee was dee-lish and my breakfast wrap was amazing. Encourage all to try Josiahs – especially those that love to debby-down a place before it even opens.

Will Triple M hold his “shut up and listen” sessions there now that they Whisky Chop is closed, or has that bridge been burned?

  10. I was disappointed to learn that Hildy opened the place just to help out Obama’s job creation numbers.
