I sent this letter out to over forty legislators (all party affiliation) running for the state legislature in the Sioux Falls area (entire document); southdacola

Greetings,

Candidate for the 2012 South Dakota Legislature,

The election is quickly coming upon us, and I want to extend my political blog out to you. I run a political website called southdacola.com, you may or may not have heard of it. I have approximately 10,000 individual readers a day, 7-days a week. I cover mostly Sioux Falls area politics (city government, school district, Minnehaha county commission and state districts in the area).

I want to give you the opportunity to profile yourself on my website at NO CHARGE. I am sending this letter to candidates for the state legislature in the Sioux Falls area, Democrats, Republicans and Independents. I am a registered independent myself and support candidates in both parties, this is not a partisan trap.

3 Thoughts on “Meet the Legislative Candidates

  1. Are you really still using that “10,000 individual readers a day” line?

    Sorry l3wis, but your 13 month average is closer to 2800 readers a day, and that is based off of IP so it doesn’t consider spam bots, web crawlers, or people who use more than one IP.

    Still good numbers – probably near the top of all blogs in the region and surely near the top (or perhaps at the top) of Sioux Falls related political blogs, but tossing out a figure like 10k isn’t very truthful.

    Oh wait… are you taking lessons from Romney on how to present numbers that are grossly exaggerated? If so please carry on – at least you’re learning from the best.

    (All in good fun l3wis… all in good fun)

  2. I will entertain you. I use two different sources for my data. If I use CyStats, a WordPress data collector they are on the low end;

    October 4, 2012: 5,105 unique visits.

    If I use my server providers stats I was at 10,712 unique visits yesterday.

    DL- as I recall when you posted your stats before it was “page views”, not “unique visits” that were in the 10K range. Page view =/= a visit. For example, the origina, view of the page this article was on = 1 page view. the selection of the “view comments” option =another page view, and posting a comment = one more page view. I.E., the original views of this article and three responses posted here = 9 page views.
