Bend over Chicky

I’m not going to print what I said to a friend today about the SD Democratic Party when I heard this, even to fowl for this blog;

The Democratic ticket is set in South Dakota’s gubernatorial race.

Susan Wismer named Susy Blake as her lieutenant governor running mate.

Blake is a former state legislator and nurse.  She represented District 13 in Sioux Falls from 2008 to 2012.

“It was an honor to be asked to join Susan for this historic campaign, and now it is my pleasure to join this campaign and stand with Susan to advocate for all of the people of South Dakota,” Blake said in a statement.

Oh, it will be historic alright, I bet it will be the biggest ass kicking the Dems get in 40 years in a Governor Race. If Susan breaks 30% I will be shocked. I bet Huether was secretly giddy after hearing the news. I will be curious if he donates any money to the campaign. As I have said in the past, the only way Wismer/Blake even have a snowball chance in Hell of beating Denny is if the EB-5 scandal blows up in his face, but I see that investigation is slowly getting buried like Benda himself.

The Dems just couldn’t leave well enough alone by handing the nomination to Joe Lowe, and running Wismer as SOS.

As Jon Stewart would say, they really f’d the chicken on this one.

16 Thoughts on “SD Dems seal the deal for Huether’s 2018 Governor Run

  1. Chances of Huether being elected west river 0.0% Perctent of west river folks who hate anything to do with Sio FOO 95%.

Couple all that with MMM being a dem in a rebup state, Janklows dead corpse could beat him.

Only MMM’s ego would lead him into that govenors race, and I’m guessing his ego is bigger than his political sense by now.

I do beleive Miss-Hershey-Sandles-Congress theif would be Huethers first ass woopin in 2018. If he’s politically connected within the states dem party he will be told to run against the corn subsidy queen.

Place that on the calendar of predictions.

Dens will have walmart sending everyone a
Gift card to vote for wismer then mmm and rmb will be able to go state wide for low income housing and tap the fed for subsidies. Then he’ll make a walmart available to be built in every Town next to his apts with enough ebt card holders

  3. Let me be the first to congratulate Denny on his reelection.

I was once a proud student dem leader in Sioux Falls and an active campaigner.. but a series of stupidity and favoritism within the party (thankfully) enlightened me to look else where for political philosophy. I spent well over 100 hours volunteering for Hilary Clinton’s campaign as an intern, organizing events, setting up the office and doing about everything imaginable to help her beat Obama by 10 points in our state.. about a month later at the state convention I decided to run for national delegate, and although several intelligent committee members vouched for me and other dedicated young dems by “investing in the next generation” and send us to the DNC. BUT, instead, they swiftly, promptly and quietly handed the delegation over to older cronys who did nothing other than hand the chairwoman (Chapman) donation checks during lunch earlier and confirm that they had “earned” the delegate role since they didn’t get it “last time”… they were so naive they didn’t even realize I was sitting at the same table. I was basically told the delegate spots are bought and paid for…………………….. The same convention is where I first met Mike Huether, who at the time, was bragging that he might run for Governor that year instead will bow down to Scott Heidipriem and reluctantly run for Mayor instead (a lesser powerful office)… I’ve seen the party shoot itself in the foot more than once, up close and from a distance. After the ’08 election I seriously re-evaluated my own beliefs and politics and read up on Ron Paul. I realized it was okay to be liberal on some issues and conservative on others, so now I find myself a lonely Libertarian today with no party in SD………. and Mike is still planning to run for Governor. I hope Mike Myers runs again in 2018 so MH has to come up with something more clever than “My Man Mike”… I like the Mayor on a personal level and think he has some accomplishments to recognize, but he isn’t the savior some of his supporters make him out to be and I have serious reservations about his approach to “public service”. I think MH will have a very difficult time winning over west river folks and the small towns. That shirt & tie background at Premier bank won’t get you very far with those voters……

You sound like Debbie Downer. Barely day 1. Give them a chance. If all women of the state would vote for two progressive women instead of SFB republican men SD could maybe, just maybe move into the new century, even if it is 14 years late.

‘My McCrook Mike’ must never be governor. He lost many votes in his second term election and shows his greed, insanity, and incompetence daily. Even mentioning him is an insult. His best shot would be running for council in Madison where he now resides.
Good luck to the ladies. I’ll vote for them fully realizing they’ll not win. Women need more voice in SD. Denny will win just because he’s another Denny (aka Sanford).

Does everyone feel better now? I suppose you could join the 21st century and do something to change SD from being the first on all lists of bad things and last on all lists of good things but why would you do that? It’s so much easier to sit back and give lip service to those who do. I won’t comment on the overt bias that has no political boundaries in SD.

Jace, I don’t think I was being critical of Susan or Susy, I am just stating reality. They cannot, and will not win the governorship. The cards just don’t add up.

Lowe as the Dem governor candidate and Wismer as the SOS candidate (we need a caring, analytical, fair, numbers person) as the candidate.

This post is NOT about how I feel about Wismer’s chances, it is about the SD Democratic Party making smart decisions before the election, primaries and convention. They did not. Trust me, I don’t want another Republican Governor, I would be very happy with Wismer as our governor, I think she would do a great job, but her winning is NOT reality, it is NOT possible. The Dems need to start focusing on winning with good candidates and great strategies and stop being f’ing philosophers.

As for Huether, I was simply stating he will probably run in 4 years. Not saying he has a chance of winning, but I can tell you, he is a scammer. He was a virtual nobody and became mayor of SF, twice, don’t underestimate him.

As for my theory that he has been ‘massaging’ certain people in the party to make this a reality? Yes he has. He meets with Zach Crago on a regular basis. If it was to drop off a check towards the Democratic party, I would understand (even though that can be mailed). And before Zach’s time, he convinced Nesselhugs to raise money for De Knudson when she was running against Kermit. MMM has a lot of influence. Don’t kid yourself, he turns cranks in the party.

  11. Oh yeh, that’s it. Lowe as the governor and Wismer as the SOS being caring, analytical, and fair. Maybe in between her caring and fairness, she can make coffee and cookies for the big guy. That would fit ol’ Joe to a T.
Joe might be a nice guy but also a good ol’boy, not one to punch holes in a state government that’s been entrenched for 3 decades with cronyism, nepotism and money loops.

“Joe might be a nice guy but also a good ol’boy”

Sounds like the most electable Democrat in decades, but instead of choosing him the party will piss it down their legs.

    Bravo.

As I have said all along, the Dems get mad at converts, the Republicans celebrate them and elect them.

We agree again LJ. There must be something in the wind. 😉

Would like to pile on. Huether is not a true dem. DINO thru and thru. His my way or the highway tactics are symbolic of the modern day conservative movement, and his crying games are as effective as the Orangemans are….John Boehner.

It’s not just west river either. Huether would win only a small scratch of SD. That scratch being outside the 29/229 beltway of minnehaha and Lincoln counties. Everywhere else he would be thrashed. His penchant for power grabbing all things sports related to high school activities, (state tournaments) is pissing a lot of eastern South Dakotans off.

I look forward to his crying game concession speech to whatever or whoever is thrown against him.

  14. I hope labor doesnt help him we know what he has done for us. I will be sure to go the boys in charge to ask them notot give to this back slider.
