Maybe I put up my fox cartoon too soon.

Rumors coming from my city hall moles today is that Paul will be revealing some major departmental changes soon. I’m not sure what they all are or who they entail, so I won’t speculate at this point. But my vague guess is that some changes Former Mayor Bucktooth & Bowlcut made when he rolled into office (creating new departments and directors) will be on the chopping block or combined with other departments.

I say bravo at this point. I think there is a lot of ‘obvious’ fat that could be cut from city hall and I look forward to hearing Paul’s plans to cut some of it. Government is NOT business. Government’s job is to provide top notch services to taxpayers at a fiscally responsible rate. I think a member of the ‘Dutch Mafia’ is starting to get that.

Hopefully we will know more early next week.

5 Thoughts on “Is TenHaken Administration proposing departmental changes?

This is a good time to cut back on useless Huether political appointments. Just ask who comes to work every day? Likely, sales tax will be down. Younkers and Sears are leaving the mall. Lots of empty store fronts on 12th street and near 41st/Minnesota.

I don’t think ‘Dutch Mafia’ is fair. The Dutch enclave seems to be near Sioux Center IA, not Sioux Falls. Dutch have become known for conservative spending. If this is true for TenHaken, this city needs some of that. We can’t assume he’s corrupt like Huether. Nobody’s that corrupt.

  3. DS,

But the Republican establishment in this State claims that everything is going to be fine now thanks to the Wayfair decision, right?… So need we worry?…. I expect Sears and Younkers to announce a reversal in their intentions any day now…. 😉

But what I really want to know is why Romantix is not impacted by online sales like good old Sears is….. It must say something about us as a whole….. Perhaps, the City Center should have been built at the Empire Mall to help with greater traffic, or maybe Romantix should move there and make everyone happy….

Or, how about this thought, perhaps, where the Center and Romantix are, is actually a historic district denoting adult entertainment (Romantix, Poop Room, Macomba Club, and those less clothed bars which that Charlie guy use to run around there)…. Well, the Romanitx owner did say on the news recently that his current location is “nostalgic” and he doesn’t want to move. So maybe the Center’s presence is in violation of historic or “nostalgic” norms and the norms intended preservation, which means it could be time to further save a “nostalgic” district and get a wrecking ball for the Center….

  4. I meant “Pomp!” Please exude my vulgarity…. (But then again, it was, and or is, an adult entertainment district)

Combining just two or three of these departments could save the taxpayers over 300K annually assuming it eliminates 3 directors all making 100+.
