If you have never seen this tribute group, it is well worth the trip, especially if you are a die hard Hank fan like myself;

John and Susan McNeill present “new” and old Hank Williams tunes during an 8 p.m. Saturday concert in Gayville Hall.

“A Celebration of Hank Williams” is a two-hour show starring the McNeills, Owen DeJong and Nick Schwebach. It’s an updated version of the production that has been staged in the hall each year since 2001, as well as many times on the road.

They play the music in the traditional way and John gives historical accounts about Hank between songs. If you already know a lot about the musical legend, the accounts can get kinda boring at times, but the music is fantastic and they play the songs to the tee.

    I saw some show the other day bragging about Nashville as the place where Hank Williams “made it big”. BWAAAAHAHAA!
    They didn’t like Hank Williams, and never really accepted him.
    Personally, I like Hank Sr’s stuff. It reminds me of my old college barber, and is 100x better than almost any other country music from the same time period.
    I’m not a big fan of Hank Jr. – too much loud redneck-rabble-rousing stuff. Hank III is one of my favorites. He sounds a lot more like his grandpa than his dad, and his songs are a lot more edgy.

  2. Hank Jr. is a jackass. Everytime I see him on TV I say to myself, “Jackass!” He was one of the few musicians McCain could get to campaign for him. I was reading an interview with Hank III about his dear old dad, he says the same thing, “Jackass”.

  3. Who owns the rights to this Hank in the tank photo ?
