From the Gargoyle Leader;

Sioux Falls Transit has a new name. Sam – or Sioux Area Metro – will start appearing on the side of city buses. “We feel it’s going to be a new beginning to our fantastic little system,” said Karen Walton, Sam general manager. It will take about six months to change everything over to the new name, Walton said. The city unveiled the new name and logo this morning.

I just don’t understand all the secrecy surrounding the decision though? Dumb.

5 Thoughts on “What do you think of the new transit name?

    SAM should give bus drivers a warmer feeling driving those big empty buses around town.

  2. I’ve never understood why so much time and money is wasted on giving entities new names or logos.

    Look at all the non profits in the city that have changed names over the last couple years.

  4. I don’t have a problem with changing the name, BUT I do agree they waste a lot of money on it, and I am curious if the city’s own media services came up with it or if they hired an ad agency like Lousy & Schister to do it for them.

    Dear fellow SAM riders: This link and information from our good city leaders will help you all find your answers to your questions (so you won’t need to bother our city chief justice, Jodi SwanLick, with such trivial matter – as she is busy tending to the needs/desires of Mayorless Munchkin):

    Title: New Name and Logo for City Public Transit System Announced

    Earlier this year, Sioux Falls Transit replaced 17 of its fixed-route buses with new buses. These buses came with a new look, including a different color and different graphics. After the new buses arrived, the Transit Marketing Committee decided a name other than Sioux Falls Transit would better compliment the progressive, urban look of the new buses.

    The public assisted with the process by submitting name ideas and an Augustana Graphic Design Art class helped by creating a new logo.

    The name is now Sioux Area Metro with a bright new logo.

    *Also, my neighbor, Creamy Nugent, told me that she can’t wait to ride SAM…

    Sincerely,

    EggBert (I think that newly candidated, city council-man Staggered, will soon be caught drunk with power on an orgie-outing riding many a SAM, will then lose the next Mayorless election, so that Master Billy Pee will easily by a margin-thin number – will overwhelmingly be elected the next Mayorless of Sux Falls
    by our fond city businessmen – NOT weak women – and city developers, etc. Vernal Brownie will be elected as Jodi SwanLick’s ass-sissy-ant chief justice.)
