16 Thoughts on “Dr. Staggers Resume

  1. l3wis on March 10, 2012 at 1:18 am said:

I wanted to post this, because, sometimes I disagree with Kermit on many issues, but he has always welcomed debate, and he will NEVER LIE TO YOU on where he stands on a issue. Trust me, there are somethings in his resume I am indifferent on, but for the most part, it is very impressive. I personally prefer our local government be run by honest, intelligent people. Kermit meets both qualifications.

  2. April 10th, Election Day, is just 30 days away.

Why are we NOT hearing anything from the League of Women Voters about a debate?

For the at-large Council seat, we have three distinct choices:

Staggers, with an eight-year history on the Council, demonstrating a willingness to take a stand on issues.

Knudson, with an eight-year history on the Council, demonstrating a willingness to rubber-stamp everything that the Administration wants.

And Buttemeier, with no political experience and hence no voting record (think Huether!!).

The public needs the opportunity to see these three candidates face-off in a debate!!!

Kermit looks like a CITY HALL INSIDER to me! I call on all true Tea Party Republicans to only vote for those candidates with no governing experience whatsoever!

Ha! Sure would be funny if there were actually people who thought that way!

Believe me Tom – there are.

Should have added the tag, I suppose…

CR – checked on the debates. I emailed the League and have not heard back yet, but they have NOTHING on their calendar of events on their website. I also contacted the AL and they have no plans, as of yet. Still waiting to hear on that. Kinda weird.

  7. UPDATE: Just got this email fashizzle from the LOWV;

Thank you for your interest. We will be working on this (city council) forum early next week.

A forum for Sioux Falls School Board candidates is planned for March 27 at the Instructional Planning Center.

I will be happy to send you details about both events as soon as they are finalized this week.

I have not done this as of yet myself, but I hope people take the time to stop into Railhaus Bakery (which is delicious, by the way) on Main Ave and at least meet and have a dialogue with Mr Buttemeier before we start assuming what we know about this candidate – which is not enough as of yet. To associate his liking to Huether is premature at this point. I plan to try and make a point to stop in and see him myself and I encourage others to do the same because at this point, I have little desire to vote for De or Kermit.

  9. Alice – I am sure Cory is fine gentleman. But I don’t like cake or pastries.

Kermit never lie? As my neighbors and I was stood in flooded houses six years ago, he told us over and over the City has a program to compensate us for sewer back-ups and not to worry. Only took a class action and six years of litigation to get the check.

When push came to shove, he ran for cover and stood with rest of the spineless bureaucrats running the City then. Can’t wait to vote against this fraud of a “public servant”

  11. First off, Kermit should have never told you that, because the city council doesn’t have the power to determine what kind of compensation you should have received. I followed your lawsuit, and I agree with you 100% that you deserved compensation, and that is what Kermit was probably saying to you, that YOU SHOULD be compensated. But he certainly did not have the power to compensate you. Did you ever follow up and call him about ‘lying’ to you?

Impressive man. I like the History strain. Mistakes are repeated and history is always a good reference for solving current issues. His wife is the good woman behind the man. His daughter will be prominent in the community. Just wanted to add the family aspect to his background.

The most recurring complaint amongst the plaintiffs at all our meetings over the years was the continuing assurances by all at City Hall, including Mr Stagers, that the City had a compensation program IN PLACE, no “should” about it. I personally talked to the mayor, appeared before the council and made multiple calls to councilors, always to hear the same refrain. Almost all the plaintiffs tell the same story.

I’m an attorney with 25 years of municipal law experience in six states. Been there, done that. Trust me, I know the difference between “should” and “will”.

    Sorry, posted too soon.

To be fair, I would not support any of those who were in office at the time and am not picking only on Mr Staggers. It was a top to bottom stonewall by all involved. Thus, litigation ensued.

In the end, my compensation via the settlement accounted for less than 10% of my loss. It wasn’t about money, it was about accountability.

FO – Actually the city does have insurance in place, and if I can think back that far, I do believe the council was told that the insurance would cover it (been awhile, I would have to get the deets from Kermit), but then they were tricked by Munson. Trust me, I know someone who was a part of the lawsuit, I heard all the deets about how you were jerked around. But I will re-iterate, The city council doesn’t have the power to compensate you. And I may be shooting from the hip here, BUT, I think Kermit feels just as bad as you do about being shit on, literally, by the city.
